Moving with the Market
Left to right: Dave Smith, Alan Joel and Philip Covin on the rooftop deck of the Alan Joel Partners' office in Midtown.
As part of our weekly interview series, the Rooster stopped in to see Alan Joel of Alan Joel Partners to get the latest coop scoop. Their current office building in Midtown is one that has been completely gutted and restructured, and Alan shared the photography journal that documented its amazing construction process and funky, cool urban office design.
Alan is the incoming president of the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS in a particularly interesting year: it's 100th in organization. "It's one of the oldest, if not the oldest, organizations of Atlanta," Alan said. He followed, "And it's the only one where you can have competitors working together in multiple facets to serve one another."
As with many businesses in our industry, the focus of Alan Joel Partners is shifting with the economy. No longer focusing on land or investment sales, the success of the company now rests on the representation of tenants, leasing and building sales.
Recent transactions for Alan Joel Partners include 6,000 square feet leased at the Mayfair with Morris and Raper for 10 years, 3,000 square feet leased at Piedmont 15 to Southeast Apartment Partners for 5 years, 20,207 square feet leased at Logan Circle with Atlanta Supply for 6 years and
4,000 square feet sold at a free standing building, at 1350 Dresden Drive with BB&T as the seller and CH
Financial as the buyer.
When he's not working, Alan is an avid
swimmer and strategic coach to high schoolers in preparation for
college sports. Thanks for fitting us in between laps,
Alan!

This Tuesday, the Rooster was
cordially invited to enjoy some cocktails and networking at the Real
Estate Group of Atlanta's (REGA) Annual Christmas Party at The
Mansion on Peachtree.
Left to right: Emily Choate of Choate Construction Company, Marty Taffel of Wakefield Beasley & Associates, and Susan Wise of Boyken International.
Established in 1990, REGA is
one of Atlanta's most prominent commercial real estate organizations.
Membership is drawn from a carefully selected group of established industry
leaders in all aspects of the commercial real estate business and is
dedicated to furthering the networking and education opportunities of
commercial real estate professionals in the Atlanta area.
Left to right: Marty Taffel of Wakefield Beasley
& Associates, Adam Brown of Glass Ratner and Mark Hancock of The Private Bank.
Mark Hancock of The Private Bank shared, "At REGA, we will always
talk business and we always have a good time. Just like we are tonight.
It's a highly prominent and diverse group of Commercial Real Estate
Executives with their hands on the pulse of what is happening in Atlanta's
real estate circles. I have come to know that if something happens
in Atlanta real estate it is guaranteed that someone in REGA is directly
involved. Beyond the industry focus and dealing with today's tough
market, REGA is more than just an industry group. It has a truly
club feel with the members enjoying each other's company at the monthly
educational and social meetings."

A New CREW Captain

"Generation Chair" that was donated by Knoll for the silent auction.
CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women)
Atlanta kicked off the holiday season last week with their December
program and introduction of next year's CREW Atlanta president. Stephanie Friese with Friese Legal, LLC handed
the baton to Melissa Hall of Chicago Title Insurance for 2010 while
guests enjoyed a beautiful luncheon at Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park.
The silent auction provided some guests with great buys for gifts...or
for themselves!
