Atlanta Loves Lucy!

Sources have told the Rooster that Atlanta is one of five cities being considered for a major corporate relocation known as "Project Lucy".  The unknown company is in the market for as much as 450,000 square feet to be taken down in phases beginning as early as the third quarter of 2010.  It is estimated that Project Lucy could create as many as 2,000 jobs.

We hope our friends in economic development around the city put forth their best effort to seal the deal for our city!

PM Realty Group Appointed as Receiver of Tower Place 200

PM Realty Group, a national, full-service commercial real estate firm, has been appointed as receiver for Tower Place 200.  The 14-story, 259,825 square foot Class A office building is  located at 3348 Peachtree Road, and is currently 65% leased. PM Realty Group will manage and lease the property and work to stabilize its financial situation.

Tower Place 200 is owned by CW Capital, a commercial real estate finance and investment management firm with a focus on commercial and multifamily real estate debt.

"Tower Place 200 is another world-class office property to be added to PM Realty Group's growing real estate portfolio. In addition to having an outstanding tenant base, this superbly located office building features a strategic Peachtree address in the popular Buckhead submarket," said Bill Weghorst, senior vice president of the Atlanta office. The Rooster caught up with approximately 600 attendees this morning at the Society for Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Annual Leadership Breakfast at the Cobb Galleria Convention Centre.  Since 1996, the breakfast has attracted not only brokers, but all members of the real estate industry.

Keynote speaker Dr. Paul J. Voss, President of Ethikos, explained the theories behind the Latin saying "non semper erit aestas", which translates to "it's not always summer".  In his light-hearted and spirited speech, he encouraged the audience to focus on the "little things" that generate success in our industry.

Eight professionals were inducted into The Legacy Circle, an accomplishment marked by 30 years of membership in SIOR.  Included in the Circle is Rusty Epperson of Wilson, Hull and Neal, who explained his crutches as he approached the stage for the award:  "this is due to 30 years of SIOR!"

Following the Downtown Development Day bus/boat tour through yet another major Atlanta storm, Carter hosted a dessert party in the lobby of the newly renovated Atlanta Hilton just across the walkway from their newest assignment at 250 Piedmont Avenue.

The building, known as Atlanta Center, is occupied by Suntrust through the end of 2010.  Carter's Mike Shelly is actively marketing the 362,000 square feet of prime office real estate, which is currently the largest block of space in the downtown submarket.
