Early Birds at Newmark Knight Frank
Breakfast fans with their host: Mike Caffrey of ABSI Corporation, Bob Grigsby of Newmark Knight Frank and Travis Higbee of CareerBuilder.
The Rooster stopped in to catch Newmark Knight Frank during the second breakfast of a new series this past Tuesday morning. Sam Williams, President of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, led the group in discussion about the New Economy Task Force as it relates to the future growth of our city. Those in attendance said they were unaware of many of
the current challenges facing Atlanta's ability to retain and attract
business, and the significant role the Chamber plays in solving these
issues. Despite these challenges, attendees were also very impressed to learn about a number of specific selling points for new businesses entering the Atlanta market.
The breakfast series is an excellent way to get business leaders
together in a network setting while providing compelling speakers that
are addressing issues that affect our business community. Lars Anderson of BB&T will head up the November 17th breakfast, and Bud Peterson of Georgia Tech will lead a breakfast meeting on December 9th.

Shopping Spree for Columbia Properties
Merchants Exchange shopping center in East Cobb County.
Columbia Properties, Inc. has acquired Merchants Exchange,
a 130,013 square foot neighborhood shopping center at the intersection
of Upper Roswell Road and East Cobb Drive in Marietta, for the price of
$17 million. The center is currently 98 percent leased with anchor
tenants LA Fitness and Picture Show movie theater.
"Through our long-standing relationship with BB&T, we were able
to secure a below-market loan providing our investors with a well-located,
stabilized asset generating a high return," says Andy Campbell,
partner, Columbia Properties.
Columbia Properties plans to acquire additional retail assets in the metro Atlanta area over the next year to 18 months. "Great
investment opportunities in retail real estate are beginning to present
themselves and we feel we're well positioned to take advantage of
those opportunities," continues Campbell.

| Georgia-Pacific Center Update
We told you earlier this week
that G-P and MetLife might be positioning G-P Center for sale. Since then, we have
heard directly from G-P. A spokesman from Georgia-Pacific LLC responded to our report with this comment about
the asset:
"GA-MET is not actively looking to sell the building, nor is it repositioning the building for selling in the near future.
GA-MET is simply making changes that it believes will add long-term value to the property."
The building is
owned by GA-MET - a joint venture between Georgia-Pacific LLC and Metropolitan
Life Insurance Company.

We want to cover your next event! Please send out social maven and marketing queen a note with all the deets and we will do our best to be there.
