The Inside Scoop on the People & Places that Shape Atlanta Real Estate
AutoTrader Interest Driving in a New Direction
Perimeter SummitHines' Perimeter Summit, located inside the southwest quadrant of Ashford-Dunwoody Road and I-285

After seriously considering Cousins' Terminus 200, AutoTrader is now focused on Perimeter Summit, where they are currently negotiating for a big chunk of the 3003 Perimeter Summit building. The owner, GE Pension Trust, has agreed to move current tenants from one of the towers into another to accommodate AutoTrader's requirements.

The move to Buckhead would have been a huge shot in the arm for the Buckhead office market which has approximately 2.7 million square feet of vacant space. Considering Terminus as a potential home may have been nothing more than a goodwill gesture to the City of Atlanta. Cox drew heavy fire about its commitment to the city of Atlanta after its decision to move the AJC outside city limits.

AutoTrader is looking to consolidate office space it currently occupies in five area buildings.  Signage availability was also noted as a factor. The Perimeter location could potentially allow for both significant signage while also satisfying the need for contiguous square footage.  Sources tell the Rooster this could amount to as much as 250,000 square feet.

Bob Voyles, of Seven Oaks Company, represents the landlord. CB Richard Ellis' John Shlesinger and Sam Holmes represent Cox Enterprises, the parent company of AutoTrader. Neither commented on this story.

Paul Hastings to Consider Buckhead, Midtown and Downtown
Ben Raney
Ben Raney of Raney Real Estate in Atlanta

Ben Raney, of Raney Real Estate, has been tapped to represent the law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker in their search for office space.  The law firm, whose lease expires in 2012, currently occupies approximately 7 floors in the 55-story Bank of America Plaza.   Raney told the Real Estate Rooster that the law firm would consider Buckhead, Midtown, and Downtown in its search.  Raney added that "Paul Hastings will be able to take advantage of upgrades in technology and will reduce its current overall square footage in this new location."  The estimate for the new space is 80,000 to 100,000 square feet. Ben is well-known for his representation of law firms in the Atlanta market and is sure to land a competitive deal for Paul Hastings.

What's the key to winning a local broker/landlord fishing tournament?  Apparently it has something to do with double W's.  William Wood of Commercial Property Professionals and Walker Welford of Taylor & Mathis  ruled the roost last Thursday at the Piedmont Driving ClubCommercial Property Professionals, Nichols Construction and Wilson, Hull & Neal hosted this annual event and the Rooster was there to celebrate as these fellas really showed their basses!
