Letter from Rooster Management
Dear Rooster Readers,
You might have noticed something different about
today's e-newsletter. Tony Wilbert's name does not appear as the writer of Real Estate Rooster. This is not an error. Tony no longer writes for our growing
newsletter.
Tony had to resign his position as a contract
writer after receiving word from top brass at Atlanta Business Chronicle that
they would stop accepting story pitches from him because he wrote for a
competitor. And because PR is his business - and the way he helps feed his expanding
family - Tony had no choice but to resign from Real Estate Rooster.
What is the ABC scared of?
Rooster management is chagrined by the Business
Chronicle's action. We actually are stunned a publication such as the ABC would
try to stifle competition in this manner. We're also surprised that Atlanta
Business Chronicle, a publication that crows about the scoop it gets, would be
so sensitive to being scooped itself.
The reaction we got when we launched was extremely
gratifying. The fact we were able to break several major stories - such
as the Eola Capital/America's Capital Partners transaction and Atlanta's successful attempt to bring the
College Football Hall of Fame to our city - added to our credibility.
Rooster's intent is not to impact Atlanta Business
Chronicle. In today's world of blogs, Twitter, Facebook and other social media
and networks, room exists for several news outlets in this town. We started
Real Estate Rooster to inform and entertain people in Atlanta's vibrant commercial real estate
industry.
These stories prompted dozens of positive responses
from you, our readers. Several commented on the insight we delivered in our
stories each week. Tony was responsible for some of this. Over the past 14
years, he's developed incredible relationships with key people in the industry.
Our friends in the local commercial real estate industry will tell him things
they never would tell others.
We tried to persuade Tony to say something for this
article, but he declined and wished us well. That said, we know and understand
commercial real estate and will continue to deliver the insight and news you
desire.
As an upstart, we are gaining traction and adding
subscribers and advertisers each week. Several readers have told us our
newsletter is filling a void in the city's commercial real estate coverage.
We want you to know that Real Estate Rooster will
continue to bring you the most informative and entertaining commercial real
estate news and coverage - all at a great price of $0. So, please keep your
news coming, and let us know when you're having events. The Rooster will be
there. This bird has wings.
