A New Year and a new decade has begun. I can so vividly
remember when the new millennium began and here we are 10 years later welcoming
in the second decade of this millennium. I truly believe time is moving faster.
We have accomplished so much as a world in this past decade and I hope you too
have accomplished much in your personal journey. Often, accomplishments do not
come without struggle and sacrifice and our world has had to endure many
difficult times over the past year and decade.
But as much as we have accomplished there is still one great feat that has
eluded us for as long as mankind has existed on our planet. That feat is Peace
on Earth. What better time than the beginning of a new year and a new
decade is there to turn our intentions and energy toward peace!
Although many believe that peace is elusive and moreover only those in
positions of power can influence whether we will ever have peace in our
lifetime, I would suggest that is not necessarily the case. I am a firm
believer that when enough people focus their energy on peace, we can make a
difference. The fall of the Soviet Union was accomplished without the firing of
one shot. We just celebrated the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin
Wall. This past year the United States elected its first black President.
Ordinary people can make a difference.
When each and every one of us become engaged and focused on the cause of
bringing about peace, only then will we begin to see miracles all around us,
and peace will at last become a reality.
In hopes of spreading the message
of peace and love this new year, I have put together a video called Peace on
Earth and posted it on YouTube. It is a collection of my photos and words, put
to the beautiful song: "What the World Needs Now," sung by Gail
Blanco with lyrics by Burt Bacharach.
I believe that by watching this video and sharing it with others, you can help raise
the energy of our planet! It is even possible that messages such as this one
will bring us closer to peace on earth.
