Greetings!

MMA

We are in the middle of awards season. The Grammy's was just on, and the Oscars are coming soon.  Now it is Milwaukee's turn.  On February 25th, 88Nine RadioMilwaukee will be holding the 3rd Annual Milwaukee Music Awards. We will post the nominees for the awards on Monday, and you will have chance to vote for your favorites in the Listener Choice Awards as well.

Tune in on Feb 25th, when we will announce the winners, and then join us that night for the Awards show party at The Whiskey Bar. There will be performances from The Jeanna Salzer Trio, The Subcontinentals, Prophetic, The Reckless Hearts, and The Championship, and more.

As you may know, we recently kicked off our latest campaign called Make Milwaukee. This winter, 88Nine RadioMilwaukee's is tapping into
Milwaukee's creative community and asking them to share their expertise in what gets them excited. We're asking our listeners to avoid the urge to
hibernate, and instead, Make Milwaukee. Using short, sound-rich audio
pieces, we're capturing what's innovative in Milwaukee and hopefully pushing you to explore Milwaukee's rich arts community for yourself. And look out for us when you're out! You never know where you'll spot 88Nine!

We also want to welcome a new member to our 88Nine family. Elizabeth Egan is our new Membership Director.
A message from our new membership director, Elizabeth Egan

Elizabeth Egan I am really excited to be a part of Radio Milwaukee and its mission. As
Membership Director, I ensure members and non members alike know the
benefits of membership and why that membership is important to us. Being a
listener supported station we rely on our members to keep us going.  Have I
peaked your interest? You can learn more about membership by clicking here.

Originally from Green Bay, I am a graduate of American University with a
background in electoral politics.  Most recently, I worked as Membership
Marketing Coordinator at the Milwaukee Art Museum.  I am a big fan of
Milwaukee and I like the fact that this station works to showcase all that
this diverse area has to offer.

I look forward to meeting you,

Elizabeth Egan

Alverno Presents: Luciana Souza / Cyro Baptista / Romero Lumbabo on February 13th

 Luciana Souza
In April 2005, AP audiences luxuriated in the serene and elegant sensuality of Grammy winner Luciana Souza as she unfurled her "ethereal, wordless vocal lines" and "haunting, technically mercurial scat lines" (Chicago Tribune) that make her one of the great jazz artists of our time.

Two seasons later, AP audiences experienced "the unbridled imagination, intense musical knowledge, skill and lust for sheer joy" (Relix Magazine) from that mad genius of world (and out of this world) percussion, Cyro Baptista. These two great artists are joined by their Brazilian compatriot, master guitarist Romero Lumbabo, for an evening of music making so exquisite, we might very well forget it is the middle of winter.
Learn more about Luciana Souza at lucianasouza.com, or download the program for her upcoming performance here.

Another way to donate:

You may not have cash that you can donate to 88Nine, but how about those musical instruments that you no longer play?  Simply bring them into Music Go Round in Greenfield or Kenosha.  They'll handle the paperwork and you'll have a creative way to donate to 88Nine.
