Daytime temperatures are finally dipping into the comfortable range, and you may even need a light jacket at night. Fall has arrived, and it's the perfect time to reseed your lawn to prepare it for the long winter ahead. Here are some of the reasons that fall reseeding is preferred over spring reseeding:

• It's a long time until the spring months. If your lawn suffered from stress or disease over the summer, autumn reseeding gives your greenery time to heal and gear up for a new growing season. • Mid-Atlantic weather trends make for warm fall soil in New Jersey and New York. Because of this, seeds have time to germinate before the first frost-- so your efforts won't go to waste when the cold arrives. 
• New seedlings need time to take root and ensure strong growth. Reseeding by October, at the latest, provides ample time for this process to occur.
