President's Corner:
It is truly my honor to be the 2009-2010 ISES Denver Chapter President. My ISES involvement has honestly been one of the highlights of my professional & personal achievements to date. I owe this organization so much in terms of education, professionalism, reputation, & most importantly my relationships. I have gotten a tremendous amount over my last 8 years as a member. So it is my turn to give back, which is why I owe the chapter all my best and accept this position with the intent to do everything I can to insure a successful year. Within the next couple of months your new board will be up & running, working hard to make sure the year is fabulous, planning some great events including the annual Town Hall Meeting, some fun networking happy hours, and some great education focused events. Please look for some contacts from your board buddies as well. This person will be your liason for reminders, updates, and to answer questions or for you to give feedback and ideas regarding the chapter. The best and most important thing you can do to get the most from your membership is to get involved. Please join a committee; you only have to commit to what you are able to give of your time & energy. It is a great way to have a stake in the success of your organization and a great way to really get to know other members. It is my goal to meet every single ISES member that comes to meetings this year. So please help me reach my goal - if I haven't introduced myself to you - call me to the carpet, find me, email me, call me and make sure I get the chance to say hello to you and hear what you do, how we can help you, what questions we can answer and any other feedback you have about the chapter. I hope to meet at least some of your expectations this year and remember just like everything else you will get back what you give to ISES Denver! ISES Denver Excellence Awards:
2008-2009 was the inaugural year of the ISES Denver Chapter Excellence Awards (IDEAs). The IDEAs program was designed to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts, performance and outstanding contributions of ISES members in the special events industry. We based the categories and judging around the idea of the ESPIRIT Awards.
In order to maintain fairness in the judging, the IDEAs entries are entirely anonymous and are judged by an ISES Chapter outside of Colorado, with no affiliations to the ISES Denver chapter. The entries were judged by a committee selected by that chapter. Each entry was judged by three different judges. Each judging team scores were returned to ISES Denver to be totaled to determine the winners in each category.
REMEMBER FOR NEXT YEAR- YOU CAN'T WIN IF YOU DON'T ENTER!!

| DANCE TRAX ENTERTAINMENT, INC. PURCHASES ELECTRICAL AND CARBON CREDITS TO OFFSET EMISSIONS AT 10 ISES EVENTS:
Dance Trax has teamed with Renewable Choice Energy in Boulder, CO to create a program that allows ISES to offset its electrical and carbon footprint at 10 meetings starting with the ISES Green Meeting in November of 2008. This 10 meeting commitment is similar to: - Planting 127 mature trees or - Not driving 31,507 miles in an average car
At the time of purchase, this commitment cost - $0.01 / kWh (kilowatt hour) and - $9.50 / MtCO2e (metric ton of carbon emissions)
Dance Trax was one of the first entertainment and production companies in Colorado to literally offer wind powered entertainment and production services. Renewable Choice made it possible for Dance Trax to purchase wind power certificates to replace all of the electrical energy it uses in its office, its warehouse and at every event they supply services for throughout the year.
In addition to replacing energy used on the grid with wind power, Dance Trax purchased carbon credits to offset the carbon footprint caused by their equipment trucks and all of their employee's personal vehicles used to get to and from events.
