2009 Meetings Industry Council of Colorado
Educational Conference and Trade Show:
Join your ISES peers at the 9th annual Meetings Industry Council of Colorado Educational Conference and Trade Show on March 18, 2009 at the Colorado Convention Center.
The 12 organizations that make up the MIC produced our first conference in 2001 to offer one mega event for our combined membership rosters of more than 3,000 planners and suppliers.
This is your opportunity to experience top-notch educational seminars, a speaker showcase, and visit a trade show of more than 100 suppliers from North America who service our events.
Plus, ISES benefits financially for every ISES participant who attends the Conference and checks the ISES membership box on the registration form.
So help our organization and your career by going to www.mic-colorado.org TODAY and sign up for the Conference. This is THE major educational event for meeting and event professionals in Colorado. Don't miss it!
Sessions will include topics that are important to the meeting professional including Managing Professional Relationships, Organizing Your Work Space, Customer Service, Retaining Key Employees and Relationships, Making the Most Out of Your Budget in this Economy, Forecasting Trends in the Industry, Working to Increase Attendance from All Generations, Technology for Today's Busy Meeting Planner and Embracing Corporate Social Responsibility.

For registration qestions, please contact the MIC office at 720-733-8000 or email MIC@RMECLLC.COM

President's Corner:
Hello Denver ISES Chapter! I hope you all enjoyed the incredible Wedding Showcase that was held at the Chateaux in January. What a fantastic job and wonderful turn out! Thank you to all of you that spread the word. January was full of education. If you attended TSE,(The Special Event Conference) we would love to have you share you experience with everyone else. Read on to hear about the conference..

The Special Event Conference (TSE)
Denver was well represented at TSE this year! In fact 8 of your ISES Denver Board members flew to San Diego a day before the conference to meet with their counterparts across the country as part of the ISES Leadership Meetings. We all learned some great ideas from other chapters and shared what works at our chapter. We'll be implementing some of these new ideas in the months to come. Did you know that there are over 49 ISES chapters around the globe - covering 38 countries - with a combined total membership of over 7,200?! The conference itself was a great opportunite to network, build relationships & take some great educational classes. One speaker, Sasha Souza even used our wedding showcase from last year as an example of a hot color trend! If you haven't ever gone, you should consider it! For more info, click here.

Always our biggest event, the 4th annual Wedding Showcase was held 1/22/09 at The Chateaux at Fox Meadows. This year was no exeption. So many ISES members worked on this event and sponsored catering, production, entertainment, beer, wine, rentals, valet, and so much more to create a memorable event. Extra thanks to Michelle Gillette of Dramatic Events, our VP of Education & Programs who went above & beyond to put this all together. Lovelynn Ann Jensen of Lovelynn Event Design gave a dynamic speech about marketing to Generation Y and the latest craze: Social Media! Are you on twitter, facebook & myspace yet??

Cindy Ollig has worked in the Denver Floral scene for 14 years. She opened The Perfect Petal with her husband and lucky charm, Alex Ollig, in what was then a semi sketchy older Denver neighborhood, heavy on charm and light on community involvement. Today, The Perfect Petal employs 15 designers and design lovers, and now the Highlands address is the most vibrant and popular of all the Denver Historic neighborhoods. The Perfect Petal has won consecutive awards in floral design, event design, wedding design and continues to set the bar for creative applications in table decor, and floral design artistry.
(The ISES member of the Month is picked at random from the pool of name tags who attended the previous month's meeting.)
