In the pictures above, this patient is just 4 weeks out from her lower face and neck lift. As with most patients, she was able to return to social activities and work in as little as 10 days after surgery. We expect patients to have some residual swelling and bruising at this point, but the results from the surgery are very evident. Dr. Sandel provides all facelift patients with a professional make-up session at 10 days after surgery so the transition back to normal activities is smooth.
A Rhytidectomy, commonly called a facelift, is one of the most common facial rejuvenation procedures performed by facial plastic surgeons. The goal of this procedure is to lift the cheeks and jowls, define the jawline, and improve the contour of the chin and upper neck. There are many different types of facelift procedures. Dr. Sandel will discuss each of these with you and recommend a conservative technique that will give you natural long-lasting results.
For the most optimal results, facelifts should be performed under a mild general anesthesia. This allows our patients to be safely and comfortably asleep while minimizing the need for narcotic medications. There is minimal pain following the procedure and although pain medication may be prescribed, most patients tell us that Tylenol provides relief from any discomfort they may experience. Sutures are removed as soon as 7 days.
