A. Perlane is in the family of fillers called hyaluronic acids.  Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar which is injected just below the skin surface.  It takes a long time to dissolve, so your result can last for up to a year.

Perlane is a little thicker than Juvederm and other fillers.  It is very soft and smooth giving the lips a natural feel.  Perlane holds its structure well so it can be placed precisely in the lip border, accentuating the "cupids bow", and giving the lips excellent definition.  Only a small amount is needed thus preventing a large ill-defined lip.

Juvederm is a thinner filler that does an excellent job in reducing the appearance of fine lines around the mouth.  It spreads out more than other fillers requiring more to be injected.  Because of this, it does not give as much definition as Perlane... but is good if more volume is needed.  Juvederm is mostly used for superficial fine lines because it can be placed closer to the skin surface.
