The December Sabbatical

Greetings!

This December I took a small sabbatical in order to do some writing, prepare the business for our 2010 goals and to make some changes with Strategic Sense.  It was an incredible time to reflect, renew and recharge - the 3 'R's of balanced leadership.

During the last year some wonderful pieces have developed and partnerships formed.  2009 provided us with a whole new outlook on work, extended our business across borders and introduced us to new media we did not utilize in 2008.  It has been a successful year and I am personally grateful to each and every person with whom we have had contact, interaction and ventures.

We're excited to share our upcoming developments and hope you enjoy taking the ride with us through 2010.  We look forward to feedback as we introduce you to our changes in the January Newsletter.

All the best to you for a prosperous and successful New Year.

~Patti

Farewell 2009

As the year draws to a close, we at Strategic Sense send wishes of peace and calm in chaos, authenticity and integrity amidst many external messages trying to convince us the world is otherwise.

May you find ways to not only develop yourself, but to also support and develop the lives and careers of those around you.  We gently remind you that the world is a community, one in which relationships trump data, where the gifts of our planet deserve respect and gratitude and where human connection requires thoughtfulness, compassion and kindness.

To our many friends and clients, we thank you deeply for your support, your faith in our ability to serve and for your loyalty and trust.  We are exceptionally grateful for the association with you as we continue to learn and grow while you teach us what is most important to you and your business.

It has been a whirlwind year, one fraught with economic struggles, a reduced client load for many, people who have had to be creative in their quest to support their families and international governments scrambling to determine financial priorities in what has felt like a lose/lose proposition.

It has also been a year of heroes.  We have seen a pilot save hundreds of lives by landing an airplane in the Hudson River.  We have witnessed non-profit organizations rally through to continue providing much needed services with reduced fundraising results whilst struggling to meet operational costs.  We watched while food-banks fed the hungry, volunteers helped the homeless learn to help themselves and individuals made significant personal choices to protect our planet.  We have witnessed people bravely rising up to say NO to totalitarianism and poverty.  It has been a year of immense flux economically, socially, and for many - personally.

Human beings are precious - we need one another and are discovering how to find each other in new ways every day.  Opportunity is everywhere; it simply fails to hold the kind of familiarity to which we are accustomed.  2009 was a year of great change; significant shifts in how we do business began to collectively form on a global scale.  The world became a size smaller and is continuing to do so via the internet and all the tools that platform has to offer.

2010 holds with it the promise of a new age, new insight into ourselves and our leaders and is an open door to finding solutions.  Businesses are beginning to learn that what they did before will not take them forward and many are working hard to create change for bettering themselves, their human resources and their customers.  Those who do not align their business with this shift, well, they will be left to try and catch up.

As 2010 swiftly arrives, we wish for you a fantastic ride through the many shifts that are forming directly in your path forward.  May you find great success and enormous value in your work and personal life. We wish for you a life peppered with balance and enthusiasm for a world worth celebrating!

Happy New Year to each and every one of you!
