Strategic Sense Welcomes Summer!
 
Greetings!

Welcome to the first week of summer, a time when vacations and customer's orders seem to slow down slightly and you get a chance to take a breath.

It's a fantastic opportunity to take a good look at your career and evaluate the career itself or your leadership role within your organization. 

Everything about life is about growing and emproving, what better way than to seek some coaching or training and 'kick it up a notch!' Sitting still in your career is no way to get anywhere, taking action toward your career goals or even taking the time to define them makes a huge difference in your work-life.
The Fit
A colleague of mine and I were talking about great "fit" when it comes to organizations.  One of the strongest and most compelling frustrations we hear from employees is just how the organization does not "get it" when it comes to their employees!  This indicates a disconnect between the Senior Executive and employees and is caused by various factors.

1. Aquisition of a company with an intrinsically different culture.

2. Company strategies do not align with company action.

3. Evaluations have a bottom-line focus and do not include employee satisfaction.

4. The company is not adept at conveying employee value.

While these are only a few of the ways that give employees the message they are not a fit, they can be very serious.  Years of study and reams of books have been written about company culture and the answer always points back to the leadership. 

What appears to be missing is a focus on items the employee needs to evaluate. 

If you don't believe your company cares about you, then it's time to do the work in finding out where your next career step will take you. 

Sometimes that means a shift in your current role within the same company and sometimes that can mean preparing yourself for a shift in companies.  Either way, a shift needs to happen.  Be aware, no job is a vacation, they come with challenging responsibilites and tasks.  The secret is finding the right fit in an organization that charges and challenges you, one that gives you a feeling of value and worth to the organization.
