Cleveland Right to Life: August 23rd 2010:

(Cleveland Right to Life congratulates The Lyceum on the move to this wonderful facility.  The Lyceum School played an integral part in the success of our recent "Bringing America Back to Life" Symposium in March of this year.)

With growth and success, The Lyceum is moving to a new and larger facility on the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish (formerly St. Gregory the Great) on South Green Road in South Euclid.  The Lyceum is one of a handful of schools in the country dedicated to providing a classical Catholic education for grades 7-12 using the Socratic method of teaching and the Great Books of Western civilization.  Central to the school's mission is teaching and living the Catholic faith and culture.

Since 2003, the Lyceum has been attracting students from throughout the Greater Cleveland area.  The school's new location will be in the Tabor House next to the Sacred Heart of Jesus church and school.

"I've been very impressed with the caliber of students at the Lyceum and their desire to learn in a classical setting," says Fr. Dave Ireland, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus parish.   "The school is independent of our parish, but really adds to the excellent education we're already providing at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Academy,"

"The Lyceum is very pleased to relocate to Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish," indicates Headmaster Luke Macik.  "A parish setting, especially one as vibrant as Sacred Heart of Jesus, is the right place for a school such as ours.  The students will have a vivid experience that the intellectual heritage of Western civilization and a life of faith go hand-in-hand."

The Lyceum first opened in the Little Italy neighborhood in 2003 with just 13 students and three faculty members.  Now in its 8th year, nearly 50 Lyceum students are served by eight faculty, with four full-time and four part-time.  Lyceum graduates have had a 100% college acceptance rate at more than ten colleges and universities.

The Lyceum's founding headmaster Mark Langley returns to the school this fall as Academic Dean and teacher.  Mr. Langley brings his expertise in the classical curriculum as well as many years of experience with sacred music choirs.  Mr. Langley and Headmaster Luke Macik are graduates of Thomas Aquinas College, a Catholic liberal arts college offering a classical Great Books education.

South Euclid's Mayor Georgine Welo is excited to see the Lyceum arrive.  "Education is a true sign of economic development.  This is so critical in Northeast Ohio.  It's very exciting to have the Lyceum move to South Euclid.  They are inspiring young people to have a lifelong love of learning."

The Lyceum's renowned sacred music choir was featured at the Cleveland Right to Life symposium in March 2010 and received airplay on the Hugh Hewitt national radio program.

About the Lyceum: "The Lyceum is a coeducational, college preparatory school dedicated to providing a classical Catholic education to students in grades seven through twelve.  Our unique program combines academic standards that can compete with other prestigious private schools, along with a serious emphasis on knowing, loving, and living the Catholic faith and culture. We believe that every student deserves a one-on-one encounter with the greatest minds that have ever lived. From the study of Euclid's Elements to the Federalist Papers, Lyceum students are immersed in the perennial ideas at the very core of western civilization."
