Silence Is Not So
Silence. Sometimes the perceived lack of noise comes from an overabundance of sounds. The drone becomes white noise that we then ignore as useless and we say we hear nothing significant. And we are wrong.
Each time I sit to write this weekly piece, I reflect on the memories and journal writings to find a message gleaned by listening to someone or something. This past week presented many successes, significant meetings that included motivated people, quiet moments with vulnerable sharing by others, and more. Yet, I cannot extract a sage expression from the week's extensive flow. That doesn't mean they weren't there.
So it is at times that you can't appreciate the magnificence of a single drop of water when standing in a rainstorm with face looking to the sky and arms outspread. Joy and awe come from both.
