| From the Administration
It is hard to believe another school year is over already. We are saying good-bye to three of our teachers this year - Donna Went, one of our ADK aides; Tamara Mervin, who taught gym and French in our primary grades; and Patrick Darvasi, who taught social studies in the senior school. We know the students will miss them and join us in wishing each of them the very best as they move on to new challenges.
The students have been very excited this week, telling us all about their plans for summer camp and vacations. We hope everyone has an enjoyable and relaxing summer, and we will see you in September!
Shabbat shalom and thank you,

Important Notes
- There's still time to order your school supplies through the PTA! You can get them by download their form from the website and dropping it in the PTA box before June 30.
- Thanks to those who participated in the used uniform sale. It was a great success, and the cheques and tax receipts will be on their way soon, as well as the unsold uniforms for those who want them returned.
- ADK is looking for games and puzzles for their room next year. If you have anything you can donate, you can still drop them off at the school.

Grade 6 Meets its Pen Pals The students in grade 6 went to Charles H. Hulse school on Wednesday. They spent the morning getting to know their pen pals through various team-building games.
In the afternoon, they heard from several speakers, including MPP Yasir Naqvi and MP Justin Trudeau (right, with David Shentow). The real highlight of the afternoon, however, was hearing from Holocaust survivor David Shentow, who is 86 years old. Mr. Shentow told the students of surviving Auschwitz and Dachau and answered their questions. He told them that talking about the Shoah has never gotten any easier, but as long as there are those who deny the Holocaust, he will tell people about it and now it is their job to tell people too.
After he spoke, the students crowded around (below) to meet him, ask more questions and thanking him for talking to them.

Special Awards Ceremony

The Special Awards Ceremony were on Tuesday, where the students were recognized for excellence in academics, sportsmanship and leadership. (Above, Rachel, Jake, Rachel, Omri, Josh and Joseph receive awards for academic excellence in grade 7.) Sheli Braun was also presented with the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellent in Jewish Education. The junior grades (1 - 3) finally had their spelling bee last Friday. Grade 5 students Steven and Ander acted as judges. Each student were given words from their grade list to begin with, but by the end of the contest, they had worked their way up to the word list from grade 7!
Above, Jonah (left) and David (far right) watch carefully as Evan spells his word. Evan, who is in grade 1, came in third place. Jonah was in second and David, for the second year in a row, was the winner.

The students got to take advantage of the beautiful weather on Tuesday and have their final Reading Buddies session outside on the front lawn. It's a collage of adorable inter-grade interaction!
