From the Administration
The weather cooperated on Thursday and we had a beautiful day for our second annual Terry Fox Run. The entire school, ADK to grade 12, was out running or walking giant loops around the campus in the beautiful autumn sunshine. We were delighted with the way so many of the students really threw themselves into it, running loop  after loop. Check out our photos below.

We'd like to give a big thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers, who stood at stations around the campus, directing our students and keeping an eye on them to make sure the run went as smoothly as possible - which it did!

We'd like to draw your attention to our annual magazine subscription sale (info below). Your children will be receiving the catalogues next week.  You can actually go to their site any time and renew your subscriptions. As long as you enter Hillel's code, we get the credit. It is an easy way to support your PTA!

Shabbat Shalom,

Some Important Notes
  • The SJCC has a variety of after-school programs starting soon. They also provide a walk-over service from the school for students signed up for a program. From after-care for little kids to cartooning, dance, sports, cooking, swimming lessons and more, you can learn about their programs on their website or contact Gail Lieff at 613-798-9818, ext 303.
  • Don't worry if your child missed Photo Day today. There will be a retake day on Wednesday, November 3.
Class Parents Needed Urgently
The PTA really needs parents to volunteer as Class Parents.  Below please find the classes who
that still need class parents.  Class parents are mainly responsible for passing on any emergency information that may arise - e.g. school cancellation. Some class parents may be asked to purchase a few things for the Grade 1 Siddur Party or the Grade 2 Chumash Party etc. We require at least two class parents per class.

We need parents for the following classes:
ADK2- 1 parent
Both Grade 1s - 2 parents each
Grade 3D - 2 parents
Both Grade 5s - 2 parents each
Both Grade 6s - 2 parents each
7L- 2 parents
8G - 2 parents
Please contact Elana Cherry (Siegman) to volunteer your time.  Being a class parent is a very easy way to volunteer and we really need them in case of an emergency.

A Firefighter Visits ADK
The ADK students got a special visitor for fire prevention week. Vaghn the firefighter came in to tell the students all about his job. They made their own firefighter hats for the occasion and got colouring books and posters for the classroom.

After demonstrating all the parts of his gear, Vaghn then let the students, like Tallula (below, left) try on everything. Even Morah Ann-Lynn got a chance to play dress-up (bottom, right).

soccer 3/4
Above, Mr. Cinanni and Madame Tamara took their grade 3/4 soccer team to Ashbury this week for a 5-game soccer tournament. The kids had lots of fun trying out all the different positions in field, and they won their game against Westboro!
Donna
Mrs. Palmer-Dodds demonstrates that her job description covers just about everything in the school, as she mops up some spilled water in the gym after the Terry Fox Run.
