Pastor's Note
 
What a great testimony to our church to see such a large number Harvesters at annual banquets these past two weeks for Christian Social Services and Oasis Preganancy Care Center.  I'm blessed to be a part of an outward looking congregation!!  I look forward to seeing you all at Grace Cafe this Saturday evening and again for worship services!
 
There are several new small group's starting or restarting on campus this week.  Please take advantage of one of these opportunties to connect with each other and to grow in Christ:

Children's Ministry
 
We are currently seeking the following volunteers on Sundays during the 10:30am worship service:
 
1)  Grade K-1 Class Shepherd for October and November
2)  Preschool Class Shepherd for October 11th

Our SMENCILS fundraiser is going on now!  Smencils (gourmet scented pencils made from recycled newspapers) are available in 10 scents and the kids love them!  They are $1 each.  Thanks to all of you who have already purchased Smencils.  We still have a few left, so catch on Sunday mornings before we run out!  Proceeds benefit our Playground Fund.  
 
Playtime in the Patch is a fun outreach event hosted here at Harvester for toddlers and preschoolers.  We plan to offer this on Tuesday, October 13th and Wednesday, October 21st from 10:30-11:15am.  If you are interested in helping coordinate this event, please contact Jennifer Smith through the church office.  Thank you!
 
Our "Volunteer Central" board is on the large rolling board in the hall.  We have plenty of opportunities for you to help with our children's programs throughout this school year.  Check it out to see where you might serve.
 
Youth Ministry

Family Devotional Time:  The link below will take you to a devotion to be used with your entire family.  Our Wednesday night youth bible study is studying The Life of Christ: The Basis of Faith.  Each week the devotion provided here will tie to the lesson the youth will be covering that Wednesday night.  However, the devotions can be used as a stand-alone tool to prompt discussion in your family.  So, even if your youth is not participating in the Wednesday night study please take a look at the link below.

Yankee Candle Fundraiser:  Thank you to the youth who sold candles this year and to the many members of our church family who bought the candles.  We sold $887 in candles and will receive about $350 to help fund youth programs and provide youth scholarships.
 
Grace Cafe, Saturday, September 26th, 5:30 - 7:30:  This weekend is Grace Cafe.  Please plan on attending and enjoying the many talents of our youth and other members of the church.  YOUTH:  All members of the youth band and youth drama team need to be at the church by 4:25 for rehearsal.  Please be on time so you will have time to run through your songs and skits.
 
Training for Nursery, Sunday, September 27th, noon till 1:00: All youth wanting to help in the nursery on Sunday mornings need to attend training this Sunday after 10:30 worship.  Please contact Jill Maeda if you are not able to attend training this weekend.  Only youth who have received training and are on the Nursery schedule are allowed to help out.

Outreach
 
We currently have the following opportunities to reach out to others in the name of Christ: 
  • Oasis Pregnancy Care Center (special prayer for upcoming events) 
  • We have many volunteer needs for October events.  At this time we are in need of a Pumpkin Patch Coordinator to prepare for the arrival of pumpkins on October 9th. Please contact the church office if you are interested.

October 24th Rummage Sale  
 
Mark you calendars....this year's Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 10 until 2.   We will be having a Rummage Sale on the church property from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m. on the same date.  Please save any items* you may have available to donate.  Items may be dropped off at the church Monday (10/19) through Wednesday (10/21).  Due to space constraints we ask that you hold your donations until then.  Thank you.  Please contact Llurah Utt with questions at 996-6926. 
[*Only useable items please.  NO computers, TV's, mattresses, boxsprings or sleeper sofas (too heavy).  Clothing should be clean - NO stains or holes.]
