Pastor's Note
What a joy it is to have a ring side seat to see all the wonderful ways God is using each of you to enable Harvester to minister God's grace. Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, Worship Ministry, Small Groups and Congregational Care, and the Trustees who keep our grounds mowed and trimmed and our facilities up to snuff! There is certainly a place for everyone!
I want to remind everyone of the Congregational "Chat Back" on September 16 beginning at 6:45 in the church Sanctuary. This is a VERY important time to briefly review our Spiritual Life Survey but primarily hear your ideas for how we move forward in light of those results. That is also the first full evening of Wednesday evening programming for Youth and Children so child care is handled.
I also trust that our current message series "Hurry Up and... Wait!" will serve as a catalyst for the prayer in our personal lives, our families, and our congregation. God bless you all!

Get Connected Mixer Tonight!
Our "Get Connected Mixer" is tonight - Wednesday, September 9th - from 6:45-8:00pm. This is a great opportunity to take the next step to connect with the Harvester Family by discovering which group or class is for you! It will be an open house in the sanctuary with displays from each of the groups, class leaders to talk to, and light refreshments. See you there!
SPECIAL DISCIPLE OPPORTUNITIES:
Disciple I introduces the message, people and places of the Bible. The course uses a DVD to assist in setting the context for each week's lesson and a spring board for group discussion. The group usually consists of 6-12 participants which meet once a week for 2 1/2 hours for 34 weeks. We'll be meeting every Thursday (Starting the week of 9/16) from 7-9:30pm. Materials: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study: Study Manual (Second Edition). Books will be ordered after all participants have registered. Cost is $35. Disciple II is the second study of the four-part DISCIPLE program and is intended for those who have graduated from DISCIPLE I. This 32-week course proclaims the transforming power of Scripture while teaching Bible study skills that take participants deeper into the Scripture. We will meet for 2 1/2 hours every week from September through May. This study begins Tuesday, September 15th. Participants will need a student book ($35 each). Children's Ministry
Calling all VOLUNTEERS! We need you to help with Sunday school this fall. We still have quite a few spots to fill this fall, but we urgently need one more adult to help beginning immediately...our 4th-5th grade class needs a teacher! Please step up and help out! Wednesday Night Children's Program
Beginning September 16th, we will offer "Live BIG" for elementary age children from 6:45-7:45pm. Children will be divided into two classes:
Grades K-2 with Ms. Peggy and Ms. Kelly
Grades 3-5 with Ms. Diana and Ms. Jennifer
This program is similar to Discovery Club that we've offered in previous years.
Our SMENCILS FUNdraiser is going on now! Smencils (gourmet scented pencils made from recycled newspapers) are available in 10 scents and the kids love them! They are $1 each. Thanks to everyone who bought Smencils at the Back to School Bash on Sunday. We have plenty more, so look for us near the Welcome Tent on Sunday mornings. Proceeds will go toward our Playground Fund.

Youth Ministry
See Youth Schedule on the right for what's happening this week.
Burger Bash/Gym Night this weekend from 5:30-8:00. Drama will be at 4:00 and Youth Band will start at 4:30. This should be a fun evening of burgers, fun and games with other youth groups in the area. Parents pick-up at 8:00 at the Academy at the Lakes gym.
Yankee Candle Fundraiser - ALL order forms, along with checks/cash, are due this Sunday, September 13th, during Sunday Night Youth. Orders can be dropped by the church office anytime between now and 9/13. If you have orders and cannot get the paperwork to Shari by Sunday, 9/13th, send her an email (dawsonfamily4@verizon.net). The order will be submitted to Yankee Candle by Tuesday, 9/15. Remember, the top sellers will receive a prize!!!!

Wednesday Night Music Programs
Beginning September 9, 8:00-9:00
Seasonal Choir: Youth and adult singers are invited to join the choir in preparation for the Christmas Musical "A Baby Changes Everything" to be presented in worship on December 6th.
Beginning September 16, 6:45-7:45
Cherub Choir: Children ages 3-4 are invited to join Ms. Shannon and Ms. Debbi for singing, movement, stories and rhythm instrument play.
G'z Kidz Choir: Elementary aged children are invited to join Ms. Deborah and Ms. Jennifer for singing and drama.
Grace Cafe Rehearsals
Rehearsals are scheduled for Saturday, September 12 and Friday, September 18 at 6:30 pm. Participants, please contact David Haqq (Haqq_David@ciber.com) or Shannon Miller (shannon@harvesterumc.org) to let them know which rehearsal you will attend. Many thanks to those who have volunteered to share their gifts. We're looking forward to a great evening of worship on September 26 at 5:30 pm.

October 24th Rummage Sale
Mark you calendars....this year's Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 10 until 2. We will be having a Rummage Sale on the church property from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m. on the same date. Please save any items* you may have available to donate. Items may be dropped off at the church Monday (10/19) through Wednesday (10/21). Due to space constraints we ask that you hold your donations until then. Thank you.
