Outreach

Living in Faith (LIV)
A group is traveling to Haiti from 7/15 through 7/25 to bring the love of Jesus Christ to people in need. One of the ways that we can be a blessing is to help donate some very basic items for them to take with them on this trip. Beginning Saturday, June 27th through Sunday July 11th we will be collecting material donations. A bin will be placed in the Welcome Center for your donations.  A list of preferred items is included below. If you would like to learn more about this ministry, please contact Anna Mae Griffey at agriffey57@yahoo.com

Sheets & Pillow Cases (all sizes)
Blankets
Towels & Washcloths
Socks (all sizes)
Underwear (all sizes)

Operation Christmas Child (OCC)
Each year between October and November, we begin packing shoe boxes filled with precious gifts and lots of love as part of the OCC ministry.  Since it's inception in 1993, OCC has collected more than 68 million shoe box gifts and hand-delivered them to needy children in 145 countries.

This year in addition to preparing the shoeboxes, we have another exciting way to serve the Lord by volunteering in the Processing Center in Atlanta Georgia on December 4th & 5th.  Volunteers inspect and pack the shoe boxes and ready them for travel. It is a great time of fellowship and sharing. Registration begins on August 1st. If you are interested please email Jeannette Phillips at jpphil@tampabay.rr.com as soon as possible as spots will fill up quickly.  From there we will set up an orientation meeting to discuss the details of the trip.

Thursday, December 3rd - Travel to Atlanta
Friday, December 4th - Work in Processing Center
Saturday, December 5th - Work in Processing Center
Sunday, December 6th - Travel to Tampa

Thank you to all who serve so faithfully in worship ministry each and every week!  A new Worship Crew is being formed to help with set- up for worship services and various worship events.  There are opportunities to join existing teams, as well, such as A/V, choir, praise, drama, orchestra, ushers and greeters, and communion servers.  Please check out the new worship bulletin board in the hallway to get connected with worship ministry or contact Shannon Miller.  shannon@harvesterumc.org

Children's Ministry

Vacation Bible School:  Thanks to all of you who either made a donation (supplies or money) or volunteered your time to help make this year's VBS a huge success!  Every contribution makes a difference.  Thank you!

Sunday School Help Needed:  We are seeking teachers and shepherds for July and August.  If you can help out, please sign up on the Children's Ministry board or email Jennifer at jennifer@harvesterumc.org .  Thank you!

Youth Ministry

Wednesday, June 24th, 7:00 until 8:30 - Summer Youth Bible Study is open to all middle school and high school students.  Each week this group covers a biblical topic with lively discussions, related games, and treats (usually brownies).  For this weeks Bible study we're going to look at Gideon from Judges.  We are going to map out some of the battle strategies from Judges as well.  Our topics are God being with us, and more about who God says we are.

Thursday, June 25th: Youth Work & Play Day - We will meet at the church at 9:00.  We will spend a few hours working around the church, have some lunch and then head to Xtreme Adventures for fun.  Parents can pick up their youth at 3:30 at the church.  Please bring $12 to cover the activities and food; a completed and notarized Medical Release form; and a good attitude!  Let us know if you are planning to attend so we can make sure we have enough work, drivers and, most importantly, food!  You can email Shari Dawson directly at dawsonfamily4@verizon.net or sign-up on the youth bulletin board.

Sunday, June 28th:  4:30 Youth Drama Team Rehearsal; 5:00 - 6:00 Youth Band Rehearsal; 6:00 - 6:30: SNY Dinner at Church; 6:30 - 8:00: Regular SNY programming

Dinner Help Needed:  For Sunday Night Youth (SNY), parents graciously prepare/provide dinner for the youth each week.  [Compensation is available to help offset the cost.]  A new schedule for dinners through the summer is on the youth board.  Please sign up if you are able to help out one week.  Contact Barbara Rodhouse (barbrodhouse@yahoo.com) if you need more information.

IMPACT Informational Meeting, Tuesday, July 7th from 6:00 until 6:30: This meeting is for all the participants (adults and youth) attending this year's mission trip to Orlando on July 26th until July 29th.  Please plan on attending.  Please let Shari Dawson know if you will not be able to attend.

Youth Leadership/Parent Meeting, Tuesday, July 7th from 6:30 until 8:00:  This is the date for our next planning meeting for the youth leadership and parents.  We will be discussing plans for the remainder of the summer, finalizing free taco night details, and looking forward at ideas for the fall.

Free Taco Night, Sunday, July 12th, 6 to 8: Mark your calendars for this is a special night of youth where we provide FREE tacos for dinner along with music, drama, and a message of perseverance!  Other youth groups from the area will be joining us on this evening/

Hello Harvester Family!

What an incredible week we had at "Crocodile Dock", this year's Vacation Bible School.  110 Children sang, played and learned of God's love and salvation in Jesus Christ.  They did an INCREDIBLE job sharing music with us at the closing program as well as in our 10:30 service this past Sunday.  Hats off to Jennifer Smith and her entire super amazing team of volunteers!

This upcoming weekend Kitty Carpenter from Cornerstone Family Ministries and Jacquie Petit from Christian Social Services will be speaking in our services.  Then they as well as 5 other Mission Ministries will be represented at the Missions Fair following each service.  Our final message of this series on Mission Earth is "My Place in Mission".  Scripture is

I Corinthians 3:5 - 9 .
