News You Can Use: Lunch Menus
School lunch menus provide the perfect space to remind students and families about good nutrition. In fact, CATCH's Eat Smart guide recommends adding brief nutrition messages to menus. If your menu is already full, consider using the school newsletter or website to communicate with families. The CATCH Texas website has inspiring ideas for your menu; just follow the link to Nutrition Facts of the Day. |

$10,000 Champions for Healthy Kids Grants
The General Mills Foundation, in partnership with the American Dietetic Association Foundation and the President's Council on Physical Fitness, invite applications for their $10,000 Champions for Healthy Kids grants. The grant program was developed to encourage communities in the U.S. to improve the eating and physical activity patterns of young people between the ages of 2 and 18.
Grants will support community-based groups that develop creative ways to help children adopt a balanced diet and physically active lifestyle. Priority will be given to organizations working with communities that demonstrate the greatest need and likelihood of sustainable impact on young people's nutrition and activity levels through innovative programs.
