Like 99.5 KGOR’s morning personality Dave Wingert, customers who try Fashion Cleaners’ free home delivery service, say once they try it, there is no turning back. Wingert, who is one of Fashion Cleaners’ staunchest supporters, says it’s like having a personal valet service. “You put your clothes in a bag on Monday and they come to you on Thursday,” he says. Wingert says he leaves his clothes in his garage for route driver Bob Elsasser, who has been with Fashion Cleaners for 18 years. Elsasser enters the code, picks up the bag and returns the clothes cleaned and pressed several days later. If he has special instructions, Wingert simply attaches a note to the bag.
Wingert says he began using Fashion Cleaners when he moved back to Omaha several years ago because he heard they were the best. It’s been nearly three years and Fashion Cleaners -- the Best of Omaha dry cleaner for five consecutive years -- has not let him down. “I’ve used many different dry cleaners in my days and I’ve never been happier with my dry cleaning than I am now,” says Wingert, who is also Fashion Cleaners’ radio spokesperson. For example, says Wingert, “the collar would never be right. It would be all creased or it wouldn’t stand up right. But at Fashion Cleaners, the collars are always perfect. That’s the way Fashion Cleaners does everything – it all comes back looking pretty impeccable.”
The son of a dry cleaner from McKeesport, Penn., Wingert says much of Fashion Cleaners’ success and superior quality has to do with the man behind the scenes, owner Kermit Engh. “When I met Kermit, I instantly liked him,” he says. “He’s an easy-going, passionate and intelligent man who really knows his business.”
“My goal is to make sure every customer is as pleased with our services as Dave,” says Engh. “We are honored to be voted Omaha’s number one cleaner for five years in a row and we intend to do everything possible to maintain that recognition.” |

Fashion Cleaners owner Kermit Engh recently shared a table with founder, chair and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts Isadore Sharp. Sharp discussed the business practices that have made Four Seasons a world-class hotel and resort at a recent dry cleaners conference at the Four Seasons world headquarters in Toronto, Canada.
Like Four Seasons, Engh says Fashion Cleaners shares many of the same business philosophies that have helped make Fashion Cleaners Omaha’s number one dry cleaner of choice for the past five years. These practices or pillars for success include quality, culture, service and brand. Quality is a top priority at Fashion Cleaners, which strives to deliver a consistent and superior product to its customers each and every visit. This is achieved by using the most advanced cleaning practices and equipment and by having each garment undergo 12 layers of inspection before it is returned to the customer. Fashion Cleaners prides itself in its customer service. Fashion Cleaners’ customer service representatives get to know each of their customers by name and will customize their orders to their specific likes and needs. Like Four Seasons, Fashion Cleaners has established a culture of respect that embodies the Golden Rule and is committed to quality, excellence and exceptional customer service. And lastly, Fashion Cleaners is committed to developing a consistent brand that is unique and superior to its competitors. “We are always striving to be on the leading edge of this industry by using the most advanced equipment and processes and by providing the highest level of quality and service to our customers,” says Engh. |
