| Cabin Fever
We usually think of getting "cabin fever" in the dark of winter ye t many of us experience it in summer too. This summer, the heat has been so oppressive it has been hard to spend any time outside. If we are lucky enough to have it, we find ourselves running from air conditioned car to air conditioned home, rarely taking a breath of fresh air. If you are getting antsy feeling stuck inside, the following suggestions might help:
Summer Heat Stifling You?- Wake up at sunrise and go outside then. Feel the coolness in the air, take a walk if you have time or just enjoy your morning coffee or tea, iced if possible.
- Not a morning person, then take ten minutes outside when the sun goes down.
- Refrain from wearing restrictive clothing. Wear your loosest, stretchiest, most comfortable outfits. Have a sweater handy for air conditioning.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Freeze water in plastic bottles and take them along to cool your body during a walk in the heat.
- If you perspire, remind yourself that it is your body's natural cooling mechanism and appreciate how well your body is working.
- Plan a film festival with movies having winter scenes or winter themes.
- Go through your photos from previous winters when you were freezing or shoveling snow.
- Find some water: a pool, lake, or even a bathtub filled with tepid water.
