| | The FIrst Day of the Rest of Your Life
May and June seem to be the season of beginnings. In the last two months, I have attended the college graduation of my niece, celebrated the marriages of the children of friends, and welcomed the births of two babies I consider part of my family.
Each was a rite of passage that was exciting, joyful, and even a little scary. All came with the promise of the future for the individuals, their community, and our world.
This may be one of those tips that feels like a cliche but I bet most of us could use a little reminder that it doesn't take a rite of passage to have a new beginning. Each day is the first day of the rest of our lives.
Self care can be the realization that we have the ability, right, and responsibility to live each day to the fullest. That doesn't mean stuffing in as much as we can each day but to choose carefully how we want to spend each precious moment.
What are you going to choose to do today, the first day of the rest of your life?
