Weekly Tips to Help You Create the Life You Desire
Tip of the Week

Ready, Set, Indulge!

In this tip, I'm suggesting that you indulge yourself. Indulging oneself often has negative connotations. We may even describe someone who indulges herself as self-absorbed, spoiled, or selfish. Most of us don't match this description. We have to be reminded that treating ourselves well is an important part of self care.

Indulging oneself can be simple, inexpensive, and not take much time but it can provide you much pleasure and satisfaction. The following are some ideas for you to consider:
  • If you are going to eat chocolate, don't waste your calories on a mundane Snickers bar, go for the Godiva or another artisan confection.
  • Enjoy tea? Forget the Lipton's! Find a special tea for different moods. Forget the styrofoam cup or chipped mug, use your good china. Better yet, collect interesting tea cups and pots.
  • Don't wait for someone to buy you flowers. A beautiful rose or an exotic stem can be purchased at your local flower shop or even Trader Joe's and last all week!
  • Hard day at work? How about indulging yourself in a luxurious bath accompanied by soothing music and candlelight. You may only have 15 minutes but what a relaxing quarter of an hour it will be!

Speaking of taking 15 minutes, how about indulging yourself by giving yourself some time during each day: time to think, time to play, time to just stare at the ceiling.

If you still can't wrap your mind around indulging yourself, you can do any of these under the guise of treating yourself well. You deserve it! Consider it part of your self care regimen.
