Gratitude for Your Body

A lot of people are not satisfied with the way their body looks. Many of us experience and complain about aches and pains, illness or disease. But, how much do we appreciate our bodies for the gifts they give us?
Body Types
Even if you believe you are too fat or too thin or have some complaints about the way your body is currently working, are there some things about your body that bring you pleasure and joy? Here are some gifts from your body that may be worthy of your gratitude:
  • Your eyes enable you to enjoy the beauty of nature, the smile on a loved one's face, or the screen on your computer.
  • Your ears let you hear the giggles of children, your favorite music, or the voices of your friends.
  • Your skin provides you with the ability to feel sensual touch, the warming sun, or a gentle breeze.
  • Your immune system fights off illness or heals a bruise.
Your body may also have given you the opportunity to create a new life, walk through a cool forest, or learn a new physical skill.

Instead of finding fault with its looks or some parts that aren't working well, how about appreciating all your body has to offer? Self care is about seeing the whole and choosing where to focus your attention.

Ogres or Humans: Parenting is Tough

Consulting with DreamWorks Animation

Last year I had the fun experience of consulting with DreamWorks Animation on the movie, Shrek Forever After. Shrek and Fiona were having some "issues" and the filmmakers wanted the opinion of a marriage counselor on how to deal with those issues in the film.

Now that the movie has been released, I am able to share my experience. I have written some of my reflections in Ogres or Humans: Parenting is Tough.
