Karate - North Academy
Saturday, May 15th is Black Belt Testing! We have 11 eligible Black Belt candidates and they have been working very hard. The instructors encourage all students to support these Black Belt candidates and be a part of the journey that these students have been making for years. The test will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 15th. The candidates will be demonstrating their knowledge and application of their curriculum, board breaking, sparring and the reading of their essay's. Classes that morning will be cancelled at all academies. All are invited to watch the test!

Summer karate camps are coming soon! These camps are designed to polish up a students skills at their specific belt rank. One week of camp is equivalent to 25 regular classes so for those of you going on vacation or are unable to make consistent classes through a busy summer, these camps are for you! Please stop by the front desk for camp brochures, dates and prices. (Information/Forms also available on our website www.abkfun.com)

Our Black Belt Club seminar in the month of May is Boxing! Mr. James (a 9 time Golden Glove boxing champion) will be hosting this seminar at the North Academy. Come down and learn the basics from a champion! The seminar will be held on May 22nd at 12:30-1:30 and a more advanced level 2 seminar from 1:30-2:30. Black Belt Club Members receive level 1 seminar for free!

Sparring day in the month of May will be on Monday's. Please be sure to bring your sparring gear (Yellow-One and above) to each class! Mr. O'Connor

Karate - South Academy

South site students of the month:
Andrew Taylor (white belt) Andrew, as early in the game as he is, has shown great progress and a desire to become a Black Belt. He shows great attention to detail and recently, during a class, recognized a new student struggling with some curriculum. Without much thought, Andrew jumped right in and began to assist his fellow martial artist. It is this kind of character that reflects the kind of Black Belt Andrew will become. Great work!
Landon Moir (purple belt) Landon has become one of those martial artists who recognizes how hard work pays off. Sweating through a class is no new thing for Landon. He gives 100% and smiles while he does it. As his techniques polishes up, we see Black Belt material on the horizon. Keep up the good work Landon!

Next Ninja Camp is scheduled for July 24th at the south academy. April Ninja Camp was GREAT! Everyone had a fun time and came away with fond memories of new weapons, new games and new friends. Keep your eye open for the sign-up sheet at the first of July.

South academy will be closed on May 15th to recognize the Black Belt testing candidates. Everyone is encouraged to come and support the candidates at the north academy. Testing starts at 1:00pm. Get there early to ensure a good seat for the event. South academy candidates are Ben Harris and Ben DeGraw.

Curriculum DVD's are here. So the first week of May should have the DVD's in the hands of those who pre-paid. DVD's will continue to be offered at a retail price of $59.00 / $49 for Black Belt Club members. Grab them as soon as you can. This is going to be a fantastic training tool for those looking to become Black Belts.

Get on the auto-pay train! For those who are struggling to remember their tuition payments, have your tuition automatically made from your bank account on time, every month, with no worries. It will be automatically billed on the 20th of the prior month and paid on the first of the month, worry free. Talk to your instructors to make the arrangements.

Next testing date is June 11th. Practice. Practice. Practice.

Women's and children's self-defense seminars will be available, at no charge, all summer long for your teams, clubs, churches, fellow workers, etc. Contact your instructors to schedule a fun and exciting hour and a half to two hour event for your group.
