"Back to Basic" Pre-conference workshop for Focus clients
By internationally reknowned Pilates expert Mr.Dav Cohan
 Dav has a Master of Science Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Miami. He has taught Pilates in a variety of fitness and rehabilitation settings, including Orthopaedic Physiotherapy clinics, fitness centers and the Miami City Ballet. He has been a Principal Educator with Polestar Education since 1997 and was Director of Educator Development for Australia and New Zealand and is now the Curriculum Director of Polestar Pilates USA.
Pilates is a dynamic, ever-changing form of exercise that evolves as your body changes. As you progress, revisiting the most basic, essential Pilates movements can be a whole new experience (and quite a workout!) As the Pilates method is based on progressions, it is important that the basic movements are done with accuracy and precision as that will create the foundation for your future skill development. This will be an interactive workshop where you will learn hands-on skills, experience movement anew and have the opportunity to ask questions.
Workshop is on Wed 15th July,2009 12.30-2.00pm at Focus, fee S$65 only. Other pre-conference classes are exercise classes which are also suitable for both Pilates instructor and clients. All pre-conference classes will fill up, please register now. |
Flu Alert & Awareness
In an effort to pre-empt any spread of H1N1 in Singapore, Focus is implementing the follwing policy for the safety of clients and staff.
Travel- if you have just returned from a country which has domestic cases of the virus and you feel unwell, please seek medical advice immediately and refrain from coming into the studio for 7 days, or until you have completely recovered.
Hygiene- please ensure you wash your hands before and after class, we also have hand sanitizer available in reception for your use.
Equipment- as you know all equipment is cleaned at the end of your class so it is clean for the next person. Please make sure all surfaces are wiped down. Focus will also use disinfectant spray regularly for the straps. Face mask- we have face masks for your use if you require them.
Other measures- If you are not feeling well, please call us to re-schedule your booking, we will waive your late cancellation fee and please rest well.

Pilates toe socks made from organic cotton available soon at Focus.
We recommend Toe Sox because:
- You have more grip for your feet on the footbar.
- It provide added control.
- Added hygiene
- It features a horizontal stripe at the metatarsal head which is a great visual cue to proper foot alignment during Pilates exercises. |
Rice donation to Cambodian Orphanage
 On a quick holiday trip to Angkor Wat-Cambodia last month, Daniel, Bing, Dianne and Paul brought along 400kg of rice & books/stationaries on behalf of Focus to the Sangkheum Centre orphanage as part of our yearly charity effort. www.sangkheum.org

New Equipment
Pilates Arc
Some of you may have noticed we have new Pilates Arcs in the studio for group and private sessions, the Pilates Arc adds lots of variety to your sessions and is great for your spine. We got extra Arcs in for the conference so will be selling off about 10-12 Arcs after the conference. Retail price is normally US$159, so add shipping and it is around S$300. If you would like to reserve a piece we will be selling them for S$200 (incl DVD and booklet).
