NYRIFF 2012 CALL FOR ARTISTS!

Blue Door Gallery presents the inaugural New York Riverlight International Film Festival, which will run from July 26 through August 4th in Yonkers, New York. The films will be shown at the brand new state-of-the-art screening room of the Riverfront Branch of the Yonkers Public Library. The program will be a celebration of films from around the world, including categories for Feature, Short and Student films. As well as seeking filmmakers for the festival we are running a CALL FOR ARTISTS to design a logo and lettering for the festival that will go on all advertising, and hopefully banners as well. For information please go to the gallery website, and then the call for artists. www.bluedoorgallery.org/calls.html

Festival and Ups and Downs Exhibition at Blue Door
The festival will be the first International festival of its kind in the area. In addition to providing an opportunity for filmmakers around the world to share their art, The New York Riverlight International Film Festival will hopefully lure people to Yonkers, allowing them to appreciate the growing vitality of this city on the Hudson and ultimately enjoy a wonderful festival.
Running parallel to the film festival will be a video exhibition curated by Marcy B. Freedman. This exhibition, called "Ups and Downs," will be on view at the film festival's hub, Blue Door Gallery for the months of July and August. For this presentation, Freedman has selected works by nationally recognized video artists, such as Michael Smith, as well as emerging artists from around the country.

We want your help and contribution! If you have a passion for films or filmmaking, or know people who are, then please let them know about the festival. Filmmakers can see how the enter the film festival by going to our website www.bluedoorgallery.org
We are working on all aspects of running the festival from the social media to the PR and advertising and nighttime events around the festival. If you want to join the team, please let us know! If you want to help in anyway then please contact the festival and gallery manager, Richard Crawford on 6466481095.
We have exciting sponsors and celebrities potentially being interested in getting involved with the festival. The presentation of a film festival and a video exhibition is a testament to the importance of the arts in the rejuvenation of Yonkers. It is hoped that this year's program will be the start of an on-going tradition of honoring these genres and making them accessible to all. Consequently, there will be no cost to attend the film screenings at the Riverfront Branch of the Yonkers Public Library or to visit the video exhibition at Blue Door Gallery.
