Blue Door Artist Association NewsBDAA logo

Dear Blue Door members and friends,

We are pleased to announce a new program to help BDAA artists show their work to the public. We are developing a group of storefronts, lobbies and public venues that have agreed to exhibit your work on an ongoing basis. These venues include stores, restaurants, libraries, City Halls and other public buildings, both in Yonkers and elsewhere in Westchester. We will expand these community partnerships as our membership base continues to grow.

To join this program, you must be or become a paid up member of the Blue Door Artist Association. Please let us know if you wish to be included - we will then put your name on a list of interested artists. We will keep the list in the order that requests are received and will start by selecting artists from the top of the list and work down the list to the end and then start over. Further instructions will be sent to you as a space becomes available. There will be no hanging fees and there will be no commissions for artwork that is sold.

You will be expected to help with the installation and removal of your artwork; you will get 'volunteer hours' credit for participating in the program. Please email us at yonkersbluedoor@gmail.com to register. Visit our website at www.bluedoorart.org to pay the membership dues. Remember that this opportunity only applies to paid-up members.

It is a great pleasure to offer you this continuing opportunity to show your artwork.

Please join us at our monthly open meeting at Blue Door Gallery on Tuesday, April 12th at 6:30 pm for additional info and networking with other members!

Generations: A Call For Artists

July 9 through August 28, 2011

cc BabyAnn

Artists working in all media are invited to submit work influenced by the theme of "generations". Artwork should illustrate an expression of cultural, historical, social, or geographical characteristics connecting young and old such as: ancestry, heritage, family or community bonds, social dynamics, collaboration, guidance and growth. Please share with us your own interpretations of "generations".

This eight-week exhibition will be held in conjunction with free community programming dedicated to fostering the bonds and creativity of young people and their significant adults.

The workshop expressions will be in the forms of performance art and poetry, dance, puppetry, drawing, painting, clay and fabric crafts, podcasting, and more TBA. To honor all generations

we will exhibit artwork created by the youth of Yonkers in conjuction with the works of professional artists whose art addresses  the exhibition theme.
