We hope you are enjoying the beautiful spring weather! We are planning several projects for Summer and Fall 2010. In this issue of our newsletter there are two "Calls for Artists" for upcoming shows at the Blue Door Gallery. Also below we are introducing a new non-juried exhibition space available to Blue Door Artist Association members. Included here we also have the latest information on current BDAA exhibits. Read on for all of our news.

NEW EXHIBITION SPACES!
NEW EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL CURRENT BDAA MEMBERS The Hastings Municipal Building will now be available for the display of artwork by Blue Door members. Rotating exhibitions will be organized and installed approximately every three months by an Exhibition Committee. All Blue Door members are invited to participate and can display any works they choose. This is an opportunity to show your work in a non-juried exhibition. Group and solo exhibits are possible. Please let us know whether you are interested in participating in this exciting opportunity. We are also happy to announce that we will also be arranging for exhibitions
of BDAA members' works in the Yonkers City Hall Council Chamber on a
rotating basis. We will let you know the details soon.

SUMMER 2010 EXHIBITION
"Capturing Memories in Art"
Blue Door Gallery,
located at 13 Riverdale Avenue in Yonkers, is changing its name to "Community
Gallery @ BDG" for Summer 2010. This community exhibition is
called TRIBUTE and will feature 2 shows at
the same time at our gallery space under the TRIBUTE umbrella.
This Call For Artists is for one of these two shows: "Capturing Memories In Art".
This show will be a tribute to the memories and visual narratives
revealed in art about individuals and/or experiences. Artwork will
honor a person or life-changing event which influenced the artist.
Artists of all media, expressing this theme, are encouraged to apply
for participation in this exhibition.
Exhibition dates: July 10 - August 25, 2010
How To Enter: Please e-mail as attachments 3 to 6 images at 300dpi, plus artwork description and artist details to yonkersbluedoor@gmail.com
Fees: A hanging fee of $15 for participating artists will apply.
Deadline for entries: June 11, 2010

Blue Door Gallery Call for Metal Artists!
FALL 2010 EXHIBITION
"Mettle on Metal" An eight week Exhibition
Blue Door Gallery and curators, Luis Perelman and Arlé Sklar-Weinstein, are now planning Blue Door Gallery Exhibition #13, a Fall 2010 display of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works made from, or including, metal as a primary material. We will be exhibiting the works of up to 20 artists.
Exhibition dates: September 18 - November 13, 2010
How To Enter: E-mail as attachments 3 to 5 images (Full views plus detail views) to info@bluedoorgallery.org with files labeled with your Last Name, Title, Size. FILE SIZE: 4 to 6 inches, long side of work @ 72 dpi. Please write your contact information in the body of the email. Pay processing fee safely online at BLUE DOOR GALLERY PAYMENT LINK at www.bluedoorgallery.org .
You may also send a CD of all images with files labeled with your last name, title, size with a Microsoft Word document containing your contact information. Send materials with processing fee check to: Blue Door Gallery 5 HUDSON STREET YONKERS, N.Y.
Fees: There is a $25 processing fee for each submission and there will be an installation fee for each artist who is accepted. The processing fee will be deducted from the exhibition if the work is accepted.

BLUE DOOR GALLERY ON VIEW:

Blue Door Gallery invited Artist-Curators Arlé Sklar-Weinstein, of
Hastings on Hudson, NY and GG Kopilak of Valhalla, NY to design an
exhibition for Women's History Month. They arrived at an all inclusive
theme called: Women about Woman, A BROAD Introspective Retrospective.
Women's History Month in March celebrates women's significant
contributions in all fields of endeavors, including the creative arts.
From an open call to women artists, the curators selected work in a
variety of media, addressing a fascinating range of personal issues.
While many regional artist studio visits were made to select particular
works to create the exhibit's conversation, images arrived from artists
in California, Florida, PA, NJ, CT and upstate NY.
The exhibition will represent 20 women artists and will include
sculptures, paintings, collages, assemblage with found objects, book
art, fiber and mixed media.

Exhibition Curator: Luis Perelman Artist Demonstrations on Saturdays from 1:30pm to 4:30pm, from June 5 through June 19, with the exception of May 29. For details on these demonstrations visit www.bluedoorgallery.org

Second Annual Yonkers Artists Exhibition

Thirty-six artists, living or working in Yonkers, are showing selections of their work in a group exhibition at the Yonkers Riverfront Library as part of Yonkers Arts Fest 2010, starting on May 1. The exhibition was curated by two senior Yonkers artists and BDAA members - Gino Civale and Luis Perelman. the exhibtion will run through August.
Over one hundred visual artists currently live and operate in Yonkers. The following thirty-six were selected via submission of images and studio visits:
