Greetings!
We are planning many exciting exhibitions, programs and events this fall. Our public art projects continue with more decorations of planters and receptacles. A new sculpture will be installed in Yonkers City Hall Park in August. Artists are encouraged to submit proposals for new public art projects. In October our exhibition - Hudson Reveries will be on view in the Yonkers Riverfront Library depicting artists' and photographers' visions of the river. Our gallery continues to show exciting exhibitions through the summer.

Susan Rutman
is Finalist in
Washington, D.C.
Obama exhibition

rutman-obama photo

Susan Rutman's photograph titled "Obama's Oath" is a finalist in FotoweekDC's International Photography contest called "FOTOBAMA - Picturing the President."  There were more than 1500 submissions from around the world, and Susan's photo was one of only 100 chosen for this honor.  The exhibition is now hanging in Washington, D.C.'s beautiful new museum, The Newseum, at Pennsylvania Ave. and 6th St., where it will be through September 7th, 2009.

This photograph was taken on Inaugural Day, January 20, 2009, in the South Presbyterian Church in Dobbs Ferry, NY.  Susan was able to visit the exhibition with her 14-year-old son on Mother's Day weekend.  She says she is thrilled to be a part of this, and to have our area represented in the show.

CALL FOR SHOW INSTALLATION VOLUNTEERS

Let me introduce myself  -- my name is Judy Werlin and I joined the Blue Door Artists Association just before the opening show of the gallery.  And what I have found there is a great group of hard-working and interesting people.  But they need help.  So I want to set up a committee of people willing to help with setting up and taking down shows.  I will put anyone on my list, even if you can only help once a year and even if you have never done it before.  No pressure.  I help put up shows for my gallery in Chelsea and I have found that it is the best way to meet the other artists and really get to know their work up close.  So if you are interested in being part of this team send me an email at judywerlin@gmail.com or call me at 914-479-5183.
