Greetings!
A crisp air catches your breath as you walk outside. We reflect on a year of transitions and change not only in our lives but also in the world. Art reflects all that we experience in the past, present and future. Exhibitions and artists opportunities remain abundant all over the Westchester area. Take a moment to be inspired!

"Human Matters"
Pound Ridge, NY

Beyond Costumes

What matters to human beings?  What in our cosmos - good or bad - makes us feel we matter?

Each artwork in the Blue Door Artist Association's exhibit "Human Matters" contains a human figure along with at least one other major element, inviting viewers to imagine how the artists might answer these questions.  The artists' subjects range from the mundane to the mythic, from human intimacy to human history.

Elizabeth De Bethune paints a man napping with his dog on a sun-drenched floor.  Allen M. Hart's ghostly equestrian -- his head an open wound -- rides a wild pig.   Israeli sculptor Lea Weinberg's wire mesh reliefs reveal people entwined together, uncertain where one body begins and the other ends.  Librado Romero's huge visionary paintings are of strange figures in sweeping mythic landscapes distilled from his childhood on the California-Mexico border.

Other artists included in the exhibit at the Pound Ridge Hiram Hall Public Library are Elizabeth Bisbing, Marie McCann-Barab, Ann Ferencz, Louise Cadoux, and Anne Bobroff-Hajal.

The show runs now through January 10.

The Pound Ridge Hiram Halle Library is located at 271 Westchester Ave., intersection of Routes 124 and 137 in Pound Ridge.
Hours are Tuesday and Thursday 10 am-8 pm; Wed., Fri, and Sat 10am-5pm.

"We Believe in Yonkers"
66 Main Street

Beyond Costumes

"Our goal, with this permanent archival photographic installation at 66 Main Street, was to bridge the gap between the ages, bridge the gap between the old mortar and brick and the new concrete glass and steel. The photographs offer the viewer a glimpse into Yonkers' rich historic past as we collide with a new revitalization for its future."
