See You In Chicago !
   ...by Alan Cheeseman

This Thursday (January 14) through Sunday (January 17) is the All Canada Show at Pheasant Run, a northwest suburb of Chicago.

We have decided to have a booth at the show  this year for a couple of reasons.

The City of Thunder Bay Department of Tourism asked us to join them at the show to help inform travelers of a new airline service with low fares. In his column, Joe Pichey will outline the convenience and savings of traveling on PORTER airlines from Chicago's Midway Airport to Thunder Bay.

Plus we have another way to help you save even more on a wilderness adventure  - by offering you the coupon at the bottom of this newsletter.

Our second reason for coming to Chicago is to meet - in person - those guests from the greater Chicago-land area who have chosen Wilderness North for their Canadian adventures for the past two decades - to renew old friendships - and say thank you.  Hope to see all of you this weekend.

BTW, this show will mark the official beginning of our sponsorship of Chris Clemmons and partner Bob Hausler  for the 2010 Walleye Tournament Trail. They will both be in the booth on Friday, to share their championship walleye angling techniques with you.  (See sidebar story on the right.)

So as Frank Sinatra might say...see you in that Tottlin' Town...Thursday January 14, through Sunday January 17, 2010.

Come Fly Away...from Chi-Town
...by Joe Pichey

As your trip planner, it is my job to help you with every step of the planning of your adventure. And for many of our guests that means air transportation.
Porter Airlines
Well, there is a new airline serving Thunder Bay, and traveling with them can help you avoid big airport hassles, and save you money.

Porter Air, a Canadian Company, offers three daily flights from Chicago's Midway Airport through  Toronto's City Centre Airport - and over to the Thunder Bay airport. Toronto's CIty Centre is a small airport with Custom Services.  A stop at Porter Air's website can fill in the details on available flights and prices, but I have seen fares as low as $349 round trip for June 2010. Plus, Chicago's Midway Airport is a great handshake with Southwest Air.  So if you're planning to travel by air, ask me to find these money saving options for you. It is not only my job, but something I like doing for our guests.

Porter flies the turbo prop Bombardier Q400 with plenty of leg room and complimentary snacks. There are 70 seats available on each flight (photo above.)

You Are The Champion
My Friend

Last fall Chris Clemmons and partner Bob Hausler won the Cabela's National Walleye Team Championship at Devils Lake North Dakota. Nice!
$30,000 dollars (US) and a new Ranger Boat.

ChrisClemmonsWalleyeChis has been a guest of ours for over a decade, a writer for our guest resource team as well-and now we have to call him MISTER Clemmons  -
I guess.

In 2010 Wilderness North will be the exclusive lodge outfitter sponsor of Chris and Bob on the Walleye Tournament circuit.

This Friday Chris and Bob will be in our booth at the All Canada Show at Pheasant Run...from 5 pm til close. Come on out to the show and learn from the pros.
