Lighten Up: Now IS the Time to Give Your Home Some Breathing Room
This time of year things get a little more relaxed around my house, we head out on vacation, and enjoy the weekends.
I also invariably find myself seeing what I can get rid of in the attic and basement. It's time to "lighten up" the stuff we've amassed over the winter. Give yourself some breathing room, and spend an hour de-cluttering.

Keys to Success
Have you ever paniced when you couldn't find your keys? It's happened to all of us (myself included) and can be a terrible feeling.
Take a few moments this week to organize your keys: car keys, house keys, neighbor's keys, or whatever other keys you have.
Follow these steps to success:
- Put the keys you use every day in the same spot! Use a bowl, basket, or key hook, and get in the habit of putting your keys there every day. Yes: same spot, every day. When I can't find my keys it's because they aren't on the key hook. Below is a photo of the key hook by my main door.
 - If you have other random keys around the house, gather them up, and figure out what they are for. Do they unlock the basement door, or your neighbor's house? A file cabinet, or the car you owned 20 years ago? Purge what you can.
- Once you know what the keys are for, label them! I like to use color coded key tags with a spot where you can write what the key is for.
- For your last step, find a container or drawer to store the less-used keys. I keep mine in a basket on a closet shelf. One of my clients uses a beautiful ceramic jar in her dining room - it's decorative and no one knows keys are inside.
