carCar Tips from That's Neat! Organizing in The Boston Globe
Last month I was interviewed by a columnist for The Boston Globe. Peter writes a car-care column, and after many years, he is trading in his well-used Chevy Tahoe for his first brand new car. Peter wants to avoid a console filled with receipts and a back seat of trash in the new car, so he sent me a few pictures of the collected clutter in the Tahoe. We talked about what got tossed where, and why, and then strategized simple solutions. The phone coaching session was lots of fun for me!

Especially for Parents: Grab Bag

As you've heard me say before, I love using all kinds of bags to organize kid things. I'd like to highlight one use that still works in my home: the travel grab bag.

I keep a clear shoebox-sized bin of various "travel" toys and books at the top of hall closet. Small activity books, birthday party favors, and other random little things go in the bin and come out for a trip. It has become a habit that my daughter loads up a gallon-sized plastic bag with toys from the "travel" bin. She likes the independence of selecting the items to keep her busy in the back seat. (And yes, for super long trips the DVD player comes out too!)
