De-Clutter and Donate: Get That Stuff Out of Your House! (and help a good cause) Tis the season for de-cluttering and donating. If you've been following the That's Neat! Blog, you know that we've been posting about opportunities for charity donations and consignment sales. This is the time of year when many organizations, schools and churches hold sales or fundraisers, and are looking for donations of items.
How can you help? This month take some time to see what you can part with from your basement or attic. You can start small - just an hour in each space - or devote a whole weekend if you are feeling ambitious.
Let's face it, we all stuff things in our attic or basement and forget about them. Every Spring I head to the attic for a quick purge. I always find some boxes to throw out, clothes to donate, and other things I have no idea why I've kept. Why not get some of the stuff out, and help a good cause? |

E specially For Parents: Scan It
Many printers today also work as scanners - have you tried it? Scanning documents to your computer is a great way to get rid of paper piles.
This school year I started scanning the weekly reports that come from my daughter's Kindergarten teacher. I started a folder on my computer and named it with my daughter's class and year, and then scan the weekly reports every few months. It just takes about five minutes! And now I can easily look back and remember what my daughter was learning, without having to keep the stack of reports.
Other papers you might want to scan and save include:
- School or class lists
- Schedules
- Examples of your child's writing or homework
- Artwork
So put your scanner to work and get rid of the paper! |
