Dear                                    Rod Crowder, OpsCentre

We were interested in Sungard recently releasing a breakdown of all of the invocations of their recovery sites since 1995.  The fundamental trend being that hardware failures have declined substantially in recent years, whilst environmental issues are becoming far more prevalent.

Sungard Invocations
Invocations due to flooding and power failure and are on the increase, the latter being caused by increased requirements for High Availability data centres and changes in technology strategy such as server consolidation, blade arrays and VMWare.

A full copy of Sungard's insights into the changing nature of risks and business continuity response is available at www.a2areport.co.uk.

I hope you find it of interest.

Warm regards

Rod Crowder

ITDRVendorReportIT Disaster Recovery Technologies - Vendor Report

IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR) has become the catch-phrase of technology and services companies over the last few years; forming the backbone of many business continuity strategies.

Vendor solutions to meet ITDR needs have developed rapidly over the last few years, and fit many different categories: extending from basic tape and disk backup technologies through to high-availability data centre solutions, data mirroring and virtualisation.  Due the complex and varied scope of ITDR requirements, almost any company can justify their inclusion to the list of suppliers.

This report profiles a selection of technology vendors that provide effective solutions to meet various IT Disaster Recovery needs; we hope that it will save you some precious time in your next search for Disaster Recovery products and services.

The first edition of this report has just been released and is available here (pdf format, 17 pages, 706kb).
