Dear (Contact First Name),

Your generosity this past year as changed lives, and improved the health of thousands of your neighbors! With your support, we provided 8,601 patient visits, meeting an increased demand of 21% from 2010. Our well-child visits doubled and we added enhanced vision care. The Clinic's goal of filling gaps in already existing resources took an exciting leap with our collaboration with Park City Schools, Holy Cross Ministries, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, funded by a grant from United Way. Continue reading below to hear more about the impact you are making for our patients, their families and our community. Whether you gave your time, expertise, the fruits of your labor,
or made a gift as a living family legacy, you are the People's Health Clinic.
We sincerely thank you!

Nann Worel

We Can Change the Course of our Lives

Martha Silva, proud graduate of our Wellness Series.

Sometimes we need a little help along the way. Martha Silva struggled with uncontrolled diabetes for years, eventually losing her eyesight. Unmanaged care is common for many people without health insurance who have a chronic illness. It took Mariely Ferrer, Clinic Coordinator, telling her firmly but very kindly that only she could change the course of the disease, and that Mariely would help her. Martha took the 8-week individualized wellness class offered at the Clinic, and suddenly, according to her daughter Connie, she turned her life around. "Before the classes, she could hardly walk. She made it around the apartment and that was about it. With the wellness classes, she started eating well and wanted us all to do the same. She's lost the weight she needed to. She and my dad walk the track and work out 6 days a week at the Basin Rec Center. She's a different person."

Now Martha has disability insurance, which Clinic staff helped her secure. She no longer visits People's Health; she sees a doctor at The Park City Clinic. But her gratitude to this Clinic will continue forever.  Read more here.

Reviving our Roots to Meet Current Needs

Community screening events will be a focus
in 2012.

Forty percent of the 24 patients screened for blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol at St. Mary's Church on January 18th, had results that indicated risk for one or more of those chronic diseases. These ten people will be seen by volunteer or staff doctors for a full checkup. The People's Health Clinic has been going back to our roots by holding health screenings where the people are. People without health insurance rarely get annual checkups. Some chronic diseases show no symptoms until becoming serious. When we encourage people to be tested in a safe and comfortable setting, and they find they need to see a doctor, they are more likely to make a followup appointment on the spot.

Clinic Receives Gift of an EHR System!

The new EHR system will provide immediate access

to complete patient information improving care.

A big change in patient care is coming to the People's Health Clinic! In December, Clinic Executive Director Nann Worel was excited to announce the donation of an Electronic Health Records system by Christine Archibald and ManagementPlus. At an estimated cost of $140,000, it is a huge gift, and its impact on the quality of life for our patients will be dramatic and ongoing. The Clinic will use the software to further provide accurate and excellent care thanks to the alerts and reminders the software provides during each patient contact. "The more I hear about the system, the more I see we'll be able to do with it," said Medical Director Dr. Bob Pellegrine. Staff Doctor John Hanrahan agrees. He anticipates a huge improvement in continuity of care. "Right now, if a patient we have been treating comes in with an ear infection, we will immediately see the rest of his history."  Click image at right to see the PCTV interview.
