Happy New Year from

The People's Health Clinic!

Thanks to You.......

.....in 2011, the People's Health Clinic continued to make our community healthier.

By the end of next week. our staff and volunteers will have had 8,400 visits with patients, many of whom would otherwise not have seen a doctor. This represents a 23% increase over last year, very similar to our growth rates over the past 5 years.  As we say each year, we're glad more and more people are finding us.

Medical partnerships have increased, like the Clinic's inclusion in Intermountain Health Care's voucher program providing affordable diagnostic testing to low-income patients.

Expanded vision services have become a reality - with monthly visits by Eye Care 4 Kids mobile vision unit. Now local teachers have an affordable place to refer those kids who really need glasses.

New and veteran volunteers in an expanding number of specialties mean primary care docs can refer patients "in-house" for needs such as mental health counseling, physical therapy, and dermatology.

So much more to do!

As more and more patients seek care at the People's Health Clinic, needs become apparent.

Recently we learned that there are approximately 3,800 women in Summit and Wasatch Counties over the age of 40 who have not had a mammogram in the past two years.  With your help we can establish partnerships so we can refer our female patients over 40 for an affordable screening.

The People's Health Clinic is launching an outreach screening project next month.  Twice each month, staff and volunteers will hold screenings around the community for diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol.  We know some chronic diseases do not exhibit symptoms until they have become very serious. With your help, we'll reach many folks who, like so many of the uninsured, don't get yearly checkups. We can become their medical home.

Please help us continue to provide our uninsured neighbors with quality health care in 2012.  Here's to a healthier community!

Greetings!

We hope this letter finds you enjoying the holidays, whether here in Utah or away.  We want to take this opportunity to share a bit of our good news from 2011, as well as a few thoughts from some people who find the People's Health Clinic an important part of their lives.

Everything good that happens here, happens because of our donors, volunteers, staff and patients. If you have contributed to the Clinic this year, we thank you!  If you have not yet made a contribution, we encourage you to help us continue the mission started 11 years ago and carried forward by this amazing community!

With deep gratitude,

Why do I give my time freely?

To give back.

To make a difference.

To change someone's life.

To encourage healthy living.

And to enrich my own life.

My husband lost his medical insurance when he changed jobs.  When we visited a doctor in Park City, he told us to come to People's Health.  The doctors here take all the time you need to give you personalized treatment.

And the staff is so nice - no one judges you for how much you can donate or for needing to come to the Clinic.

As a business owner, I've always supported local charities. I feel compassionate about some people's lack of access to medical care, and when I learned about the Clinic's work, I knew they were a fit for me. It can be a real crisis when a family doesn't have health insurance and I am glad the Clinic is here to step in and help.

The vendors at the event were happy to donate part of their proceeds to continue the Clinic's great work.

I'm a nurse by profession, and there is something in my nature, I guess, that is drawn to doing what I can.   Patients often say to me, "Thanks for seeing me today."  They know they are lucky to be here.

We've just got to help people when we can, don't we?

We are so pleased be part of the network of financial support that understands that our collective strength comes from being inclusive to the needs of everyone in the community.

I feel privileged to play a small role in serving on the board of the Clinic.

I have had the opportunity to see the impressive, modern facility, and have met the amazing staff and the doctors who volunteer their time to make the Clinic such a well-managed and effective community organization.

It was a humbling experience for me to get a detailed understanding of how the organization is run and how it functions so diligently.
