Greetings!
As the year comes to a close, we want to recognize a few of the people who make the Clinic work, and whose lives have been made easier by PHC's presence in the community for the past 1o years. Read a few of their stories below. Thanks for the part you have played! |

 | Why I Volunteer ~ Why I Support PHC |

Joanna Kahn ~ Volunteer Physical Therapist
Max Doilney ~ Business Supporter - The Corner Store
It's our way of showing gratitude for this great community we live in.
Joanna ~ At a physical therapy conference a year ago, the question was asked, "What are you doing to increase access to PT in your own community?" I had been thinking about volunteering at PHC, and that was the nudge I needed. I enjoy helping the behind-the-scenes workers get back on the job, back to their active lives.
Max ~ I have given to PHC for several years - it's a donation on behalf of my employees - my way of contributing to their healthcare. Our restaurant at PCMR can't afford to provide health insurance to our seasonal workers, and I know a lot of them come to PHC. We are grateful that our employees have a place to come and bring their families. |
 | Why We Give |
| |
Sharon & Bob Mardula ~ Clinic Supporters
| Sharon's mom |
My mom would give to PHC.
When I was a little girl in Louisiana, my mother showed me that those who had more had to take care of those who had less. One day we were downtown when she saw a man who obviously didn't have enough to eat. She stooped over to talk to him, then went into the nearby diner, and came back to the car. I asked "Mama, what did you say to that man? Why did you go to the restaurant?"She fixed her cat-eyed glasses on me and said, "That man told me he was hungry. So I told him I would give the owner of the diner $20 and he could go there until it was all gone." I know that she would like what the Clinic does for people. |

Patty Isbell ~ Patient
What peace it is to know that someone cares.
Kids are kids, and we had plenty of broken bones to take care of, without any insurance. As a mom, I put myself and my health last. I was managing a local shop at the time, and someone told me about People's Health. I got an appointment and was treated for a thyroid problem. In a week's time, I was back to my old self. And I've been in many times, problems found and solved!
They ask for a donation, and one time I had nothing to give. Other times I have given the $15 they ask for, and a couple of times I gave more because I could. Now that my health is restored it is my goal to turn the tables and be a blessing to the clinic as they have been a blessing to me!
I have never felt looked down upon - just cared for. When the staff and volunteers look at me, it is as a friend, and never with judgment. |

 | Why I Serve |
| |
Brooks Harbertson ~ Board Vice-Chairman In tough times, I believe our mission is even more critical. As I have spent several years serving on the PHC Board, I have come to see that the Clinic's mission is very closely related to things that are important to me personally: good health, caring for others, keeping families safe, and making the place we live better for everyone. The Clinic has been sustained by a community that steps up to help each other, and I am honored to be a part of that. |
|
 | Why I Volunteer |
| |
Davis Erickson ~ Volunteer Phlebotomist
On my drive home, I think about how many people were helped that day because the Clinic was here.
There are many places I could practice my phlebotomy skills, but here I help people who really need it. It's often through lab tests that people learn why they have been feeling bad, and can receive the care to feel better again.
I love being in the lab when the Clinic is packed. In between drawing blood I get pulled in to interpret for the doctors. The good days are the busiest days, so there are lots of good days at PHC.
