"Something I have noticed here at PHC is how grateful the patients are for everything. I even get people thanking me for drawing their blood (which never happens anywhere else!). It is totally rewarding to see that every time I come in."
Hailey has taken the time almost every week for the past six months to drive to PHC from her job as Lab Technician at Primary Children's Hospital. Her work in our lab is a huge help. We think she deserves a round of applause, and we wish her luck in her application for Physician's Assistant school. |

One of PHC's founders, John Hanrahan, Tells the Story Hint: It starts with 700 local residents showing up for an appointment one Saturday...
One of the founders who will be celebrating Monday night (and chances are you have yet to see him singing in a glittery top hat!) is Dr. John Hanrahan. Here on PCTV's Mountain Morning Show, he talks about PHC's early days.

A Note from a Grateful Patient
Kids are kids, and we had plenty of broken bones to take care of, without any insurance. As a mom, I put myself and my health last. I was managing a local shop at the time, when I found myself feeling so tired - just struggling to get through the day. I knew I had to see someone. Then an acquaintance told me about People's Health. I made an appointment and was treated for a thyroid problem. In a week's time, I was back to my old self. And I've been in many times, problems found and solved!
They ask for a donation, and one time I had nothing to give. Other times I have given the $15 they ask for, and another time I gave more because I could. Now that my health is restored it is my goal to turn the tables and be a blessing to the clinic as they have been a blessing to me! - Patti

Every dollar you donate helps local residents make the doctor's appointment they could otherwise not afford. |
HOLIDAY STRESS!!!!
It does no body good.
Much as we love the holidays (right?), we sometimes suffer the effects of too much - food, shopping, errands, expectations.
Don't give up your exercise regimen! And if you don't have one, get one for your own sake!
Exercise has some direct stress-busting benefits.
■It pumps up your endorphins. Physical activity helps to bump up the production of your brain's feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins.
■It's meditation in motion. After a fast-paced game of racquetball or several laps in the pool, you'll often find that you've forgotten the day's irritations and concentrated only on your body's movements.
■It improves your mood. Regular exercise can increase self-confidence and lower the symptoms associated with mild depression and anxiety. Exercise also can improve your sleep, which is often disrupted by stress, depression and anxiety.
