Park City Food & Wine Classic July 8 - 11
PHC is a Beneficiary of Great Summer Event
Have you always wanted to learn to make ceviche? Would you like to know more about biodynamic grapes or Spanish reds? Or relax on a summer evening, sampling boutique wines and local hors d-oeuvres on Main Street?
The popular Classic is returning for its sixth year to benefit The People's Health Clinic and The Park City Foundation. A full weekend of seminars, strolls, dinners, and outdoor activities is planned, and detailed information and tickets are available at:
In the Saturday event listings, consider "Cooking with Kieffer". This 10:00 a.m. seminar by Executive Chef and creator of www.healingpalate.ning.com Jason Kieffer explores how food delights the body, mind and spirit. Proceeds go to PHC.
An online auction will also benefit the Clinic and Park City Foundation - with items ranging from a 7-night villa stay on Ambergris Caye in Belize to tickets to the 2011 Masters Golf Tournament practice rounds. Bidding opens July 1 and closes July 15.

A special event whose proceeds solely benefit PHC, The Waldorf Astoria Park City will host "Spruce on Fire", a sizzling evening of poolside cocktails, entertainment, beer and wine, and dinner from the grill. Buy tickets on the Saturday Events page.
So many events to enjoy, while helping People's Health Clinic help the uninsured in our community! We'll see you there! |
Volunteer Loves Being on the PHC Team
PHC Staff is Grateful for Raquel's Help at the Front Desk
Raquel Alicea, Front Desk Volunteer |
"I feel like I've known the people here for a long time, though I only started volunteering this year. The people who work, volunteer, and seek help here really want to be here, and it shows. The communication between staff and volunteers is great - it's all about what's good for the patients."
"Sometimes I feel so humbled by people's circumstances. You can tell the patients are hard-working - but no matter how hard they work, they just can't make enough
to afford insurance."
"People's Health shows the sort of kindness every day that you don't always see in the world." |
How Prepared Is Your Family for Emergencies?
Summit County Publishes New Guide to Help Residents
Do you have the right wrench at the ready to quickly shut off the gas outside your home in case of a leak? Where is your water main, and do you own the correct tool to shut it off? Do your neighbors know how to reach you at work in case of a house fire or other emergency?
The new edition of the Summit County Family Emergency Preparedness Guide covers every topic you could think of, including Preparing Your Vehicle, Accidental Poisoning, and Shelter-in-Place Guidelines in case of a chemical spill in your area. There are checklists for preparing a 72-hour disaster kit and creating a family disaster plan. The guide has just been posted online (click the image below for a .pdf version). Printed copies will be available at the Health Department offices later this summer.
