Greetings!
We've been busy at People's Health Clinic this summer, seeing more and more patients and expanding our preventive education programs. And we have been welcoming new volunteer providers in new specialty areas.
There are a few important and timely items to share - a special deal for members at Silver Mountain Sports Club and Spa and our participation as a drop-off point for The United Way's Day of Caring project in early September. Both are great opportunites to help the community.
In next month's issue: The new wellness programs here at PHC and sneak peeks at our almost-completed facility at Quinn's Junction. |

PHC July 4th Entry Wins
"Most Original" in Parade
The following was submitted by Deb Sangalli, Float Chair:
How did PHC come to win "Most Original Entry" at the July 4 parade, our first entry in years? Here's the way it went down: In Late May, Nann Worel asked if I would do a July 4th Float for The People's Health Clinic. I was honored to be asked and off I went, gathering a group of local women to help. Once our creative team came up with the theme, Esther Aall made a model for us and the plan was set. Robin Nygaard even made a gingerbread model to present to the board and they loved it. With the donation of the trailer and truck from Steve Reid, we constructed the body of the float. With Esther off painting and making props, the ladies were having fun making tissue flowers. With loads of tissue paper, wine and finger food, the task of making 2000 tissue flowers was made easy. These ladies were so dedicated that some who had tickets to the "Blood Sweat and Tears" concert, took the supplies and made them during the show.
Next on our list was the "Crutch Drill Team". Ruthanne Nygaard took on the challenging task of teaching us to dance with crutches. Those of you who saw the parade saw the amazing results. There were also patients, including one in delivery and one receiving an injection from an extremely large hypodermic needle, as well as doctors and nurses. With July 4th just around the corner, it was crunch time and we crunched! Working late into the night we finally finished in the wee hours of July 3rd - 300 hours later!
This project was a huge success and was finished on July 3, late in the night. These volunteers gave their time, money and energy, yet it was easy to donate our time for such a worthy cause. We are all already signed up for next year and can't wait!
