New PHC Facility & County Health Building Is Well On Its Way!
The new Summit County Health Department facility, in which People's Health Clinic will occupy 5,000 square feet, is on schedule for completion by the end of this year.
You can check out the building's progress when you drive by on US 40 or Hwy 248 at Quinn's Junction. It is south of the new hospital and right in front of the almost-completed US Ski & Snowboard Association building.
Look for updates and photos in each newsletter until our opening!

"We're having a baby!!"
For
many people, the news comes from a doctor's visit, a visit that begins
7 or 8 months of continued care. But what if you didn't have health
insurance? And couldn't afford the $2000 average cost for prenatal
care the Kaiser Family Foundation estimated in 2007? And what if you didn't know how to apply for emergency Medicaid ahead of your baby's delivery and faced bills of $6,000 - $15,000, depending on the type and ease of delivery?
During a busy Wednesday afternoon OB Clinic, I got a chance to talk with Dr. Gary Sharp, OB Clinic Director and a Heber Valley obstetrician, and Sandae Bonare CNM, a Salt Lake City Nurse Midwife.
Sandae: "The women who are
seen at PHC receive complete prenatal care, which is not to be taken for granted, as many have gone without care
with previous pregnancies. Caring for moms and babies - I can't think of a
better investment. They in turn feel empowered to care for
themselves, their children and their community." Gary: "We believe that everyone deserves care. It's the right thing to do and it benefits us all to have a healthy citizenry. When a laboring mother arrives at the hospital with a complete record from PHC, it shows the highest quality of prenatal care. That makes all the difference."

Local Restaurants Join With PHC to Care for Employees
PHC volunteers are hitting the streets from Main Street Park City to Main Street in Heber City to seek local restaurant support for the services we offer their employees. One quarter of PHC patients are restaurant workers and the Clinic is offering a unique partnership. With a donation to PHC, we provide updated Clinic information, public recognition, and we will even send a staff member to present our services at a staff meeting.
Longtime supporter and owner of Wasatch BrewPub Greg Schirf said, in a recent article in the Park Record, "Park City is so fortunate to have the People's Health
Clinic. Very few communities have anything close to this. I
would encourage every restaurant to be an enthusiastic supporter."
If you are a restaurant owner or know one who might support our work, please call Sarah at (435) 513-0551.
And look for a listing of all of this year's partners in the April newsletter.

Consider this: To honor an anniversary, birthday, or other special day, underwrite an evening Clinic at PHC!
Each two hour evening clinic costs $2,500 and provides care to an average of 22 patients.
A placard with your name and/or the name of the person being honored will appear in the Clinic waiting room that night as well as in the monthly e-newletter.
To sponsor a Clinic or for more information, email Nann Worel at nann@phcpc.org.
