Greetings!
I've been having trouble sleeping these days.
After a terrific ground breaking ceremony for the County Health Department and our new People's Health Clinic space, I got a little worried. Like many of you, my wife Maura and I have seen our retirement
and savings plans drop significantly this year. There is a lot of
uncertainty and fear in the economic climate. But that is not what
has me worried. Some time next year, or the year after, or maybe in
3 years, our savings will return to where it was and continue to grow. We
will not have a lasting problem from this year's economic woes. My worry
is for the patients we are seeing, in ever-increasing numbers, who could have
immediate and lifelong consequences. In this time when our natural
inclination is to hunker down financially, look after our own, and weather the
storm, charitable giving often drops way down the priority list. Yet this
is the exact time when people like our patients need our help the most.
They have no economic buffer. They have no health insurance. Imagine not
seeing all the pregnant mothers who need care in our community. One
pregnant mother with preeclampsia that goes untreated could face serious complications, along with her child. Imagine the diabetic who goes
into a coma or develops a neuropathy because the Clinic was not open to see him or her. Our mission is more crucial than ever in these times of economic
hardship. Please continue your support of PHC. In advance, I thank you. John Hanrahan Executive Director |
PHC Donor Beano Solomon
Beano Solomon of Park City has been a generous Clinic supporter for several years. Here's what she has to say about her support for the Clinic's work:
"Our community has always supported what we believe to be
important. We vote for higher taxes to preserve open space and put art on our
streets. Even in these hard times the folks in Salt Lake voted for money to
rebuild the zoo and the aviary. Every citizen in Park City benefits in one way
or another by the work that uninsured workers do for us. They work in the
kitchens, keep the grass mowed, put our fannies on chairlifts. Most of these
fine folks have no health insurance. Thanks to the passionate folks at PHC, they have not just
adequate, but fabulous health care. This is a cause I think we should ALL
contribute to because we ALL benefit from what all these people do for us."
"I've always believed that everyone should find room in his or her budget for philanthropy."

Local Fans Raise Money for PHC
The vocal group The Ingenious Three raised $1430 from an appreciative audience at their December 10 concert in Salt Lake City. Many thanks to this Very Philanthropic Three for dedicating the proceeds to us!
My Time Fitness held a day of free classes November 1 and raised $599 for People's Health. The fitness center created a festive atmosphere with healthy snacks donated by Albertson's and blood pressure checks by our own Donna Wahoff-Stice APRN FNP, Diabetes educator and volunteer provider.
Many, many thanks to these community-minded folks!
