Grateful Patient Gives Back to PHC

"I help out at the Clinic when I can - I feel so much gratitude for the care the doctors have given me and my family."
Maricela Ruelas has called People's Health her family's medical home for over 5 years. Working as a housekeeper and prep cook, she has no health insurance. So, raising her children Jose and Kelsey, she has relied on People's Health since their first visits for stomachaches and allergies. Over time, she has felt the need to do more than make the suggested patient donation at each visit. So she helps to vacuum and clean the Clinic whenever she can and brings food to help feed the volunteers during evening clinics.
Last fall, Clinic providers diagnosed a blood clot in Maricela's leg. Staff arranged an ultrasound and IV drug therapy at LDS Hospital and helped Maricela fill out paperwork for a discount. Since that successful treatment, Clinic staff has been performing lab tests (processed for free by LabCorp) and monitoring her medication. Maricela's relief in having resolved this potentially dangerous condition is evident in her cheerful smile whenever she comes into the Clinic.

PHC Receives Partner Grant from The United Way

Judy Sobin, UWSL Regional Director for Summit County Congratulates Nann Worel of People's Health
We are so proud to announce that PHC has been chosen by United Way to be a Community Partner. Over the next 3 years, PHC will receive $40,000 a year to operate our programs to care for the uninsured of Summit and Wasatch Counties. Judy Sobin, UWSL Regional Director for Summit County, says:
"The United Way Community Assessment done in 2007 showed tremendous need in Summit County in our focus areas: income, health and education. The People's Health Clinic addresses health and health education for men, women and children, and we are very glad to be able to support its work."
