Greetings!
People without health insurance put off visits to the doctor - and that
means they often don't get attention until the problem has become more
serious and more costly, both to them and to the community. PHC's greatest success is catching
medical concerns in the early stages, when the potential for cure is
greatest.
"It's more than a clinic. It's the community's clinic and I'm very proud, not only of the Clinic, but of the town that gives it its support."
- Father Bob Bussen St. Mary's Catholic Church

Recent News Article Shows.... PHC's Work is More Important than Ever!
Consider the following statistics from The Salt Lake Tribune, April 9, 2008:
*Every week, an estimated 3 working-age Utahns die because they are uninsured.
*Among working adults in Utah, 101,900 were without insurance.
*The eligibility level for public health coverage is up to 200% of the federal poverty level, leaving many families without coverage, and in Utah, that includes 87,800 children.
At the People's Health Clinic, the only requirement to see our providers is lack of health insurance.

Volunteer Pediatrician Loves His Work!
PHC is more than a clinic - it's a medical home for local families. My wife and I volunteer during the Tuesday Night General Practice/Pediatrics Clinic. Susan helps with patient check-in and I share my 30 years' experience as a pediatricion, seeing sick youngsters and their families. In the past month, I've treated 2 patients with asthma who, after several visits to adjust medication and educate the child and family, are breathing more freely. PHC was also instrumental in obtaining services for a dyslexic 3rd-grader. PHC creates the trust and followup care that are required for such outcomes. I am most impressed with the level of volunteer participation at the Clinic. When PHC expands its services in the new facility, I look forward to working side-by-side with these dedicated people. I love giving back to the community and I feel fortunate to participate. -Dr. Guy LaMere MD |

PHC/Restaurant Partners
This year, PHC is making an appeal to the restaurants of Summit and Wasatch Counties for support. PHC treats a substantial number of restaurant employees and needs the restaurants' help in providing a medical safety net. Over the years, estaurants have helped PHC in a number of ways, including meals for volunteers and catering for fundraisers. But most beneficial of all, these new Restaurant Partners make a $500 annual donation to offset operational costs. Partnering restaurants like Zona Rosa, the Eating Establishment, and Jean Louis Restaurant appreciate the fact that they can steer their employees to PHC for medical care.
If you are a restaurant owner who would like to pitch in for PHC, please contact Sarah Klingenstein at sarahck56@sisna.com.
