 What began in 1996, as a family-friendly way to celebrate the New Year, has become a cherished Cleveland POPS Orchestra New Year's Eve tradition to thousands of Ohioans who return year after year to enjoy the finest in pops music and entertainment. A two-hour concert, featuring our world-class orchestra and nationally renowned guest artists, is followed with social dancing welcoming in the new year. Dancers are accompanied by two orchestras located in both the grand foyer and the Smith Lobby of Severance Hall.
What could be more elegant and eye-appealing than a New Year's Eve spent at one of the most magnificent and opulent concert halls in the world, listening and dancing to the finest in quality music and entertainment.

 Direct from their smash hit show at The Luxor in Las Vegas, The POPS showcases THE THREE REDNECK TENORS in our New Year's Eve concert. Take three outstanding, classically trained voices . . . add a sprinkle of wheels-off, countrified comedy, and you have a delightful combination of wonderful singing spiced with outrageously funny entertainment. Let them entertain you with a full range of songs from Pops to Puccini.

 Cleveland POPS New Year's Eve gala event begins at 9:00 p.m. with a full two-hour performance of selections by the orchestra, conducted by Carl Topilow, and songs sung by the 3 Redneck Tenors. The program will include:

Uncompromising Excellence in Orchestral Sound "Also Sprach Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss (the theme from the 1968 movie 2001-A Space Odyssey)
"Sleigh Ride" and "Sandpaper Ballet" by Leroy Anderson
Songs from the Broadway hit revival "South Pacific"
"Raiders March" by John Williams (from the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark)

 Social dancing begins at 11 p.m. and continues until 1 a.m. on New Year's morning.
Those choosing to dance have their choice of two dance locations at Severance Hall:
- THE BEAUTIFUL GRAND FOYER, where you can dance to the music of Carl Topilow and the Cleveland POPS dance band and experience the fabulous balloon drop at the stroke of midnight.
- THE SPACIOUS SMITH LOBBY, where the contemporary soft rock band "Splash" will play for your dancing pleasure and listening enjoyment.
Those patrons not wanting to dance may sit, enjoy a beverage or free coffee, and watch the festivities.

Refreshments are available for guests of Cleveland POPS New Year's Eve event.
